I'd bet you just need to get used to the bike and how to keep it balanced. The things Stoneville mentioned are important - especially don't grab your front brake at low speed.
If you're having trouble touching the ground... Instead of leaning the bike and putting one foot down, try sliding off the seat slightly to the left side (with right foot on rear brake) or roll your hips forward and put both feet down if that helps.
You'll find the most comfortable and stable way to support the bike over time. Don't give up. It all just takes a bit of getting used to.
*EDIT* also - there have been discussions both on the main forum and in the Kitchen on how to pick up your bike if you drop it. Check em out.
But as Darkbyte said - chances are there'll be someone to help pick it up anyway.
