Everyone has teething problems. Dont ever feel helpless as you can always ask for help. Just because you cant pick up your own bike doesnt make anyone think any less of you. Im sure there are a lot of people here who can't pick up their bike, or would really hurt themselves to save face (not good either). Just stop and think a moment about what happens when you drop it, once you figure it out, you will be fine.
Try and relax, the more nervous you get, the more likely you will be to drop it. Take a few deep breaths and tell yourself that you believe in you. I think there is a post in The Kitchen somewhere that has the words to a Kiss song I sing to myself when Im nervous (the song is called "I"), it might be useful.
It doesnt matter if you drop it. Thats what your first bike is for
