fair enough if you're doing the rear, but the fronts should be easy shouldnt they?[/b]

Well after I called dynotime and Russel said he'd never done a VFR and would have to be working blind, and I got a recommendation for this guy in sydney who does them for the 400 racing, so he's re-springing and working some black magic on the valves...
Plus it turned out they need rechroming so probably would be going in the mail anyway.
Saf I paid $3400 for it, so I feel I can reasonably spend a bit more to get it in good shape. Unfortunately as an import, Honda Australia don't officially support it for parts, so I have to order everything from a shop over east. They do have a fair bit of HRC gear available, but from what I heard the further you go down that path, the less road-friendly the bike becomes, especially once you start chopping the air-box and going for ram air it has a real top-end bias. One day I'd like to race it when i have way too much money on my hands and another bike for the street, but for now i'd prefer a more friendly torque curve down low.
Can't wait to get it dyno-tuned once the exhaust is on!
As for the racebike 'look', well the panels are pretty shagged, more so since somebody stole it and dumped it around the corner. I'm starting to dislike the 'bug-eyed' look too, so it definitely won't be staying plain and black forever...
It now has no ignition (was destroyed) but a toggle switch, and i've ground off the ignition mount from the steering yoke. That's a start I suppose
