From what Rossi has said, he's had a hard time at the start of this season just adjusting his setup, etc to take the Bridgestone tyres into account and until he got it to work... well as we saw he had been off pace until recently this season.
You can have the best rider in the paddock, but if the combination of other components is slightly off you'll be off-pace.
Casey clearly suits the ducati... melandri clearly doesn't....
