999S doesn't have tapered collets. 999R 2004-2006 does. So does 749R, and some 749S (05/06 I think). I think the Testastretta Evoluzione engines have a different way again, heads don't need to come off (except the 1098R - heads off...)

I have done a bit of research on tapered collets lately......watch this space!
