    Contemplating Cruisers

So I've been riding my little hyo around 6 months. While I'm not riding, I'm reading up all about bikes and, in particular, cruisers.

I'm loving the look of the cafe/bobber styles but nothing sets it apart better than using a cruiser frame.

Now, I'm gonna jump into heavy mods straight away. I think, first off, I should get a cruiser and see how I like it for myself! As a matter of fact, I'm actually heading down to Five Star to try out the XV250, which is awesome because the cruiser I love the look of is the xvs.

The other thing I'm contemplating is whether:

    -I sell my 250 and get a 250 cruiser
-I wait til my open license and get a bigger cruiser
-I wait til my open license, get my cbr600rr (dream sports) and then get a cruiser

Lots to choose from! Obviously, money plays a massive factor in this.

Anyways, I'll let you know how I go after today!

^ Was my 1st bike. Very easy to ride, maintain and never missed a beat. Good resale value too.
Having said that though the fun factor compared to a grown up sports is non existant. You'll find out that you cane it a lot.

If you're really keen on getting a cruiser I'd wait till you have your R licence and at least get a bigger one. But if you can afford it go your number 3 option, best of both worlds.

I cannot imagine the horror of a 250 cruiser.

A 650 Cruiser is equivalent to a 250 sports bike.... (Trust me I know)

I've had sports bikes, and my wife currently has a 250cc cruiser, I've ridden a few 250 cruisers and I have a 1500cc cruiser.

Wait until you can get a big cruiser. The point of cruisers is that they are big and lazy. Having a 250cc cruiser is like having a 1.6L truck. It's not cool and doesn't do the job that it's supposed to do.

250cc cruisers are great if you want a cruiser and need something to learn on, but if you already have a 250cc, wait. Simple as that. And don't get a little cruiser (750 shadow etc). You'll just spend all your $$$ and then after 6 months want something bigger anyway.

When I was looking for mine, I thought I would get an 800 Vulcan and then upgrade. STOOOPID. So glad I didn't. I was worried a 1500cc would be too big. It was big for about 3 weeks, then you get used to it. I throw mine around like buggery and spark the floor boards every day on my commute and LOVE it. Just pick the ultimate bike, save up and buy the bloody thing. It'll cost you less in the long run.

So I took the xv250 for a spin today!

When they came round the back with the bike, the first thing I noticed was that it was really small. After owning a hyosung, I forgot most 250s have a smaller frame.

Nevertheless, I took the baby out and got comfortable with controls. Cruised a bit around the streets, I found the foot positioning weird at first but I got used to it. It was awesome just riding, I just wish I had an open face helmet to get the full experience.

Engine wasn't all that powerful, but it was a 250 after all. Sounded like a scooter compared to my hyo with the howler. Not quite as satisfying as I thought.

So in conclusion, I agree with you all. Gonna wait for my open license to get a cruiser. The 250 just doesn't cut it. Whether I get a cruiser or both depends on my wallet at the time.

Haha, hopping back on my sports bike felt really good afterwards. I do like the look and feel of cruisers, but I love my sports as well. Looks like I've gotta save up a lot!

Cheers for all your advice guys !
