I ride a cruiser and I always nod. The only time I dont respond is if Im concentrating on something or I was to slow and didnt notice it until its to late. I have also just started the head tilt after I got one back the other day and its easier to see and do.

Always used to go the up and down. Didnt get much of a reaction.
Ever since i saw a guy almost twist his head off with the tilt iv been doing it.

Iv noticed its not some much cruisers that dont respond its open face helmets.
The riders with full helmets usually acknowledge you.

Fully agree Tic. Rode past a hanky wearing cruiser the other day and nodded. I was about 10 metres from him at the time. Got no nod back , but the look on his face as he rode past appeared that he may have actually had a stroke.

I don't nod or wave anymore but will return a nod or wave. Funnily enough, when I used to nod, it was other cruiser riders who were least likely to nod back, generally those riding a particular make.

I do stop for any biker if they look like they need a hand.

Why do you nod or wave? Is it cos you get a thrill for being noticed? I'll wave/nod if I feel it is appropriate and only cos I want to, not expecting anything in return. I do it cos I see someone I wish to acknowledge, maybe on a similar bike.
Any returns are fine but so are none.
That's it. No need for generalising about cruiser riders or scooter pilots. Wave if you want to.
ps I often finger-waved when riding my Honda Dominator and never got a response. Eventually I asked a mate why he didn't wave back and he said he saw nothing. Frign Barkbusters!!!!!

I often dont wave,sometimes because Im braking or going through the gears or getting ready for a turn or just just because my mind is somewhere else.
I cant see why people get their panties in a knot because someone didnt wave/nod to them,harden the fuck up.

...well don't stop flashing....others in the vicinity might appreciate the exposure. (note to self...remember to nod at all Bonnevile bikes in the Mandurah area)

I saw fewer bikes in the east,but most nodded,made it very noticeable when I got back.Personally I nod on a country run,not in town,but get very few back,so will
probably give up doing it soon.
As for why do it,it's a leftover from the time when we were far fewer,and knew the other rider was a kindred spirit,so it's probably time it was finished.

Snapper, here's how it works, ride a Sports bike and most wave back, ride a HD and no one waves back, my reasoning is that most other HD riders think its uncool to wave to anyone, and jap bike riders dont wave cause of some stereotypical HD hatred, imo of course.
I'll wave to anyone, but its never returned, not that I mind, Im out enjoying my ride.

I give a nod and a wave to all most time don't get one back but every now and then you get one and it feels good so do what you need to and if someone waves back one up for you
