3 points and $100 fine for tinted visor :(

Hi all just want some feedback here please. Was pulled over for going under the speed limit.... yes under the speed limit, 56km in a 60km and was informed by Mr Plod:
    1) and I quote " That is one ugly looking bike" that was the first comment NEXT ......
    2) your tinted visor is illegal 3 points and $100 as not shatter proof.
    3) your yoshi exhausts are illegal remove them
    4) your rear pegs are illegal as you have have no passenger seat remove them.

The bike is 4 weeks old off the show room floor brand new... not my day oh my bike is a Suzuki Hayabusa.... guess he doesn't like sport bikes.

Have checked with Suzuki and they have never heard of no rear pegs before and never heard of illegal tinted visor and not been shatter proof. Went to a number of bike shops today and looked at brand new helmets and the visors ALL state "Not warranted shatterproof. I have a Shoei and checked may other brands and all the same so what do you do? and no rear foot pegs what the hell!!!!!!! Not a happy vegemite

Did they give you a yellow sticker?? If not then you are lucky. Unlucky about the visor, but they are correct, just being dickheads. The only ones that at 'legal' are the clear ones

Stoney, does that mean that the clear ones are deemed shatter proof?

4 km under? What an asshole.

    Did they sticker the bike?

Visor if it's original even if tinted will have an Aust standard mark on it.

*edit, could be wrong. Just went checked my new tinted visor. Says something diff. Swear my last one had AS mark. Perhaps my new one is not original Replacement?

Rear pegs are opposite. If you remove the pegs you must remove the seat.

Guy sounds like a douche. End of story.

I've never checked but do the tinted visors have an AS sticker on them. If it does, contact the officer and request he withdraw the infringment. My dads New Shark helmet has AS stickers all over it and has an inbuilt flip down tinted visor, go figure?

you'll spend more than $100 to fight it but that's how the system is set up to work, if you need the points then contest it, get some legal advice most lawyers will give you 30 minutes of their time for free the first appointment, make sure you have your facts straight before you go to court.

AFAIK if your rear seat has a removable cover then pillion pegs are legal to remain in place but if there is no rear seat at all then they should be removed vice versa if you have a rear seat and no pegs then that is illegal too.

as far as being ugly, that's just an opinion and should probably have been kept to himself no matter how many people agree with him unprofessional behaviour you can always lodge a complaint to a senior officer within the station he is working from and see where it gets you, they do have the authority to override an infringement.

yeah the yoshi exhausts most likely don't meet ADR's so he's probably right.

I see no issues with this comment.

Just out of curiosity, what time of day did this happen? Is the visor shatter proof?

Your Yoshi exhausts are illegal, I fail to see the issue here.

Do you have a seat fitted under the hump?

Really? According to the Gazette (259/2007), visors must comply with AS1609:1981 - that is the only requirement.

My tinted visor is stamped with AS1609, so according to what is written in the law, it is legal? I didn't realise that it wasn't...?

    Yes it was in Bullsbrook

All helmets I checked today including mine came with 3 red ticks and the Australian Standards on it BUT all state on the right hand side "not warranted shatter proof " so in other words no visor then is illegal. This was at 8.30am in the morning. The hump was on the bike and my daughter does ride pillion at times. Its not bike everyone does like but each to there own, there is why there are so many different bikes on the market to suit everyones tastes. It was not yellow stickered which is good. Have made a phone call to the traffic section and the sargent I spoke to was not amused and wanted the officers name which I didn't get.

Helmets or visors? If it has an AS mark on it then feel free to challenge the infringement, the officer's name will be on your infringement also.
You're lucky you didn't get stickered.

Is 56kmh in 60kmh zone even a reason to pull you over? i thought it was something like 20kmh under in a 100+kmh zones that it becomes illegal.

    Apologies for my ignorance but

Are tinted visors legal to use daytime? Where it says that what is legal or not? If they are not shouldnt they be targeting motorcycles stores that sells them? Etc

Pipes if they are not too loud, shouldnt be a problem?

Pulled for being under the limit 4 ks WTF?

Did you take his badge number? I will place agood compliaint........

This is not the police that we need to "protect and serve" the community.

it may be barely legible or spelled incorrectly as the education standard for the police farce in Western Australia has been lowered considerably, but there will be a badge number and officer name on your infringement they only need the number to identify him.

apparently this only applies to the freeway now.
