Fight it good!
Regardless, fight it.

Stories like this make ALL OTHER police hate TRAFFIC police.
It is too simple minded to just 'hate pigs'.
As far as most people are concerned, they only ever deal with police at roadside breath tests or when being pulled over. Often these result in petty fines with pathetic reasons so it is only understandable that people get pissed at the Cops in general, because that is, for the most part, the only time they deal with them.
People don't understand the fact that not all cops are out to get ya. Quite a few of my good friends are cops and are as casual and easy going as you'd like. Obviously you get your odd shit bloke here and there, but in general they are just normal lads. One thing that they do all dislike is the cops that thrive on being wankers, (quite often but not exclusively) the TEG. With people getting done for stupid shit by these guys all the time it only gives people a bad perception of the Police Force in general. Hence most other cops refer to them as scum.
Of the cops I know, you'd be surprised of what traffic offences they have let people off for. All concur that the 'attitude test' is the first thing they apply. If you're gonna be a wanker and gob off, then they'll act accordingly.
I think that to say you 'hate pigs' is either shows you are very niave, or you have other reason's that you should be avoiding Police...
I dislike a lot of the policy that comes from higher up and that these guys have to enforce, but seriously, MOST Police are in the job because they like playing 'cops and robbers', not 'cops and roadside infringements + paperwork'.
It does suck that there are wanker cops out there like the OP got stung by, but this alone really is no reason to 'hate' police... you obviously have your own reasons that would make you jumpy if an officer knocked at your door right now, or are just trying to 'talk the talk'... which is really lame.
Excuse my ramble and if I sound argumentative, but it just shits me that people say they 'hate pigs' when really, what for? Just doing their job? Be grateful you don't have to get spat on, scratched, abused, deal with domestics and pick up dead bodies like these guys do.
The commisioner... now that's a different story!!

Seriously pulling someone over and giving them a fine for a tinted visor? Doing their job, even if they're TEG, couldn't they be a little more proactive and catch people paying no attention to driving, using mobiles, applying make-up? You know the one's that when they run into you say, "I didn't see you".
I don't get spat on, abused etc because I chose to get an education and get a job that doesn't entail me dealing with said scum of society. Their choice, I don't have to feel sorry for them, they know what they're getting into. People like this officer make me fucking angry and hate every interaction with a traffic stop, which is never a 'routine check'.
a lot of gixxers come factory fitted with yoshi bits ... ECU in my bike is a yoshi. i guess this is a grey area, if it's yoshi in bright colours and badging and it sticks out it's illegal.. if it's yoshi inscribed on the inside of the muffler and the muffler is ally and unmarked, it's passable?
agree with Huggy. my mate became a cop and i keep reminding him there are idiots representing cops that make all cops look bad. i used to hate cops but now i just freak out when i see one for stories like this.
Geez it's a good thing I wear an open face and my ebay sunnies. Might save me a hassle from those people trying to save my life... I wonder if my bandanna is required to meet Australian standards, you never know it might rip when I hit a dung beetle and cause baby seals to die...
I see harley riders with no helmets, roaring down the street. Where are the po-po? Down the other end of the city pulling up street bikes for having tinsel on the handlebars -.-

I agree that what this coppa has done is bullshit and serves no purpose, and that TEG in general are pricks who go outside what is required/even legal. What I don't get is why people see the actions of a few dickhead cops as a valid reason to hate all police.
99% of the cops you pass on the road aren't gonna do this. It seems stupid that someone can base their opinion of police in general not by the 99 cops that let you ride past freely, but by the 1 that pulls you over and is a dickhead.
Besides breath testing roadblocks, how many times do you really get pulled over, when your doing nothing wrong, eg not speeding or riding recklessly... The answer is fuck all!
It really is just a case of percentages, in that the dickhead traffic cops are the ones that we deal with the most, and attract the most attention. Would we really be seeing this thread if the title was 'Cop complimented my bike, mentioned my visor was a funny colour but ok, and waved goodbye' ? No, we wouldn't... and nor should we have to to acknowledge that they aren't all fuckwits like the minority.
Oh, and there is a difference between feeling sorry for someone and being grateful for what they do... an edumacated person should understand that. Their job, their choice, but I just can't understand why people would hate them, when the majority are decent.

None of my visors have an 'Australian Standards' sticker on them.
Helmets do.
Tinted visors state that they're for daytime use only.
It's not a question of legality, but insurance.
Can't fine you for having a tinted visor, Shirly.

I ride with my tinted visor on day and night. I very rarely wear it down. I prefer to wear it up with either sunnies during the day or clear safety glasses at night. I wonder what the definition of use is?
I used to have a nice sig offering to shadow ppl. Now I have no sig... I blame Petrov
i've gone thru booze buses and never had any mention about my visor. but i would definatley fight it mate, dont let him fuck you over
Our Father, Who art at Phillip Island, Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done
In the backroads as it is on the freeway
Give us this day our high-octane premium fuel
And forgive us our lanesplitting
As we forgive the four wheel drives, the volvos and the taxis
And lead us not into gravel corners
But deliver us from hand-held radars
For thine is thy leather, thy denim, thy Gore-Tex and thy Kevlar

I believe they can fine you for a tinted visor, EVEN if it is flipped up and you are not looking through it.
I just had a looksie at my visors for my icon variant, the clear one is AS stickered, the iridium visor (which i wear day and night because it is hardly any darker to look through) does not. bugger.
Fucking sucks that while wearing safety gear, having the correct license, all my points and a completely unmodified motorbike I can still get pinged for something if he/she is having a bad day. Instead of you walking fine free, you know...because you haven't done a thing wrong, you are actually at the mercy of one of these cunts and have to pray to yourself they aren't grumpy today. That's not how policing should work at all IMO.

agreed, not all cops are scum; but this guy's private crusade wasn't doing the WAPOL any favours in terms of PR value. and before anyone chimes in with some DISMAL attempt at trolling - yeah, yeah, yeah...I know their job isn't about winning hearts and minds.
not that familiar with 'busas, but don't the rear pegs double as exhaust hangers? if ignorance is bliss this cunstable must have been absolutely ecstatic.

The whole issue is about the tinting.
I wear an irridium visor during the day, always have and will continue to do so.
But...
A cage can have every window tinted EXCEPT the windscreen and mirrors.
The fact you cant flip up a windscreen or change it in 60 secs like a helmet visor sorta makes the comparison redundant.

My iridiums have the as number. I would happily take the fine then tie him up in court. He will lose and have to explain to the judge why he is a fuckwit.
In no way are all cops like this, not even TEG. This guy is an exception who needs his gender reassigned. A bit like the cock in rockingham who got done for hoon laws.
Atlas Performance, dyna pumps, " your name goes here"
So you get 3 points just for the visor or for the yoshi as well? It was double demerit?
Just bought a dark visor for my new arai from helmet house, they sad that cops can give you hard time, but i never thought that you can loose point for that!
Is it possible you could post what section of the Road Traffic Code he fined you under?? Should be on the ticket, along with his name and number??
Just checked my helmet, has an Australian Standard sticker, on the visor, along with the same details etched into the visor, but nothing about being shatterproof???
