    90/130W H4 Globe? y/n?

Since I'm riding a 250, I'm not gonna spend up on an HID kit, but I'm wondering whether these might be an option for increased vision (not just on the bike, but in the car too, as I do a lot of highway night driving).

Does anyone have any idea on whether or not the perceived downsides are real?

Pros: Moar Powah! So I can see better/further at night.

    Cons:

    Possibly illegal?

130W @ 12v means 4-6mm CSA cabling, which I'm pretty sure means rewiring for both car and bike.

Possibly cause an issue for other drivers even though my headlights are properly adjusted?

Possibly too much heat for the reflector assemblies to handle?

What sayeth the collective wisdom of PSB?

I say please don't be one of those annoying cocks who dazzle everybody else on the road just so they can see better. It's the epitome of selfishness.

And yes, at 130W you are going to start melting anything plastic in the vicinity, including polycarbonate lenses.

If you hunt around a bit there used to be globes that had the standard 55watt low beam and a 100watt high beam might be worth looking into. For the cage it would probally be easier to fit a set of spotties rather than rewiring it if you do a lot of country night driving.

Thread is now for gratuitous posting of the biggest, most ridiculously out of place spotlight pics you can find. (inb4 spotlight, the store).

Is Lee correct in assuming you could hook PSB folks up with an H4 kit? I'd be up for that in a flash!

Mind you, I like having high-beams even around town (most of my night riding has been around midnight when the streets are clear).

    What are my options?

I put some higher powa globes in my car, resulted in melted plugs, globes blown half way back from albany, having to camp out and wait till daylight to drive again.

Not to mention the strain this will put on an already overworked Regulator/Rectifier/Stator

Do you go that fast at night you really need that much extra lighting?

No, but I like extra light if I can get it without putting other road users at a disadvantage.

You have to lead with a picture for this to work.

The lights on my old ciblet are shit, and if there's no street lighting about, I really have poor visibility. Upgrading the lights is something I'm seriously considering as a safety move.

I used to have customers come in when I worked for Supershit and prop some 90/130's on the bench. I asked them what car and it was normally a Falcon or Commodore with poly lenses.

"You don't want these, they'll weaken your lenses, we have white 45/55's that will help you see better"

    "Nah she'll be right"

    *sigh*

darling drag unless its a massy ferguson 250 there is no way it will power the globes you suggest.even if it did (and it wont) it will likely blow fuses melt anything plastic thats close by etc etc in other words what can go wrong will go wrong.you mention not lashing out on hid ?Why for around $350 or less (depends on the number of headlights you have ) you can buy a top quality (read non chinese) unit that will include globes ballast igniter wiring delayer cable ties and even stickers with a real 2 year warranty.and if you buy a 35 watt kit you will likely be placing no greater strain than the standard light with a lumen output of approximately 2500 against the standard halogen output of around 8 or 9 hundred and should you wish to sell the bike at some stage u can take it with you or leave it on the bike as a selling point ..just a thought
