Ahhh, my bike just went over!!

Damn it, my bike just took a spill and fell over. I was moving it out of the warehouse at work and thought I had it on level ground to hop off and close the door behind me. Turns out it must not have been (my fault for leaving it in neautral), and it must have crept forward and unbalanced the stand.

Looking at it the only damage I can see is some slight scratches on my clutch lever and a little scuff on my left hand grip, neither of which would even show up in a photograph. My clutch is now out of adjustment and I cannot find neutral with the bike running, but it's ok to ride home and fix when I get there. If the scuff doesn't clean off the left grip I have a brand new spare I can swap on.

I can't believe I got off that lightly!!! I was expecting to pick it up and see the left side of the tank dented.

    Leason learned...

Lucky. I had a friend in the states drop his Deluxe doing the same thing bringing it out of his garage. He dented the tank, front fender, bent handle bars, left grip, broke shiter peg. His bike had the black pearl and white paint job so all up it was like almost $2000 inc labor and they had his bike for 3 weeks.

Oh, I know what that feels like. Mine was 6 Months old when I pushed her out of the garage, turned to get my helmet and saw her topple over out of the corner of my eye.

Good fortune for you!!! Could've been ugly. No-one ever wants a ding in their tank.

So often, when our brain is switching off, we have these spills. I fell off my scooter simply checking for mail in my letterbox...fugn embarrassing.
The previous owner of my Rocket made me swear on the owner's manual that I would take extra precaution whenever parking the fat-ass bike, cos if it toppled it would probably snap one of my spindly legs! So yeah, I have to plan all parking moves. That's only a small inconvenience however...

The bike rode fine going home last night, save for having trouble getting gears as I got closer to home as the clutch adjustment issue became I guess worse.

Got home readjusted the clutch lever and clutch adjustment, so all is good there. Cleaned up the left grip with some WD40 (it was dirty anyway) and it came up as good as new, not even a scuff mark in the rubber it was just dirty.

No damange now, no evidence and the bike will now alway be parked in gear no matter how flat a surface looks and if I'm only hopping off for just a second.

Oh and yes a Lotto ticket was purchased

Very lucky. Know how it feels. Same happened to me a few years ago. Barfridge will remember as it was his old 250 that mine fell onto.

have a look at any Aprilia forum and see how you can get a technical write-off on a Tuono from dropping it off the stand--something punches a hole in the frame around the peg mount

1: ST parked on hill, rolled off the side stand. Scratched "wing" and bottom of pannier, embarrassment. Lesson - always park in first.
2: Busa on paddock stand, trying to jack up front from sump, jacked it off the stand. Damage - dented muffler, RHS fairing scratched to shit, destroyed bobbin pickup on paddock stand. Lesson - get a head stem stand.
    3. Installed remote start, requires bike parked in neutral. Pulled up to work carpark (flat), can only think I didn't quite kick the stand down far enough, parked, walked away, turned around to wave goodbye, bike being lazy. LHS fairing scratched to shit, cracked stator cover, sadness. Lesson - triple check side stand is right down before leaving.

You got off lightly, skitzo, but it's never a nice thing to see...

Well it turns out I have one thing to fix but it shouldn't be an issue, and I now understand where all the force of the fall went. After riding to Gingin and back I could sware the bars didn't feel straight, and after putting a straight edge on them I can now see the side that copped the fall is about 1/2 an inch further back that the right.

I guess you'd expect that with bars as long as mine, that there'd be plenty of flex and give in them. I'll whip them off next weekend and pull that side straight again hopefully.
