    Bike shops all closed?

I rode past 5 Star and Causeway today - everything shut up and not a soul in sight... I was hoping to look at some big bikes, as I won't have much more free time before my R test.

Whats the score? All the car dealerships appeared to be business as usual?

they reckon we don't need to buy anything I guess.

The Honda Shop in Midland is open

Can't remember about Savage Suzuki, best to grab a phone book (or google bike shops) and give them all a call and see who's open then map out a route to visit as many as possible

Oh and lots of BIG bikes for sale in the For Sale section, super looking LE R6 as well from memory

Strange that, why would anyone else want a break at Xmas, particularly when most people go away on holiday and it's too hot usually to go out Especially considering most on here buy their spares off the net and their warehouses over east are closed anyway the losses compared to $$ earned would be minimal even if they did sell a bike
Surprised the car dealers are open but then the markup/profit on a car is a lot higher

You make valid points, however, also consider:

Most of us don't buy brand new bikes on the internet.

A large proportion of us work 9-5, and have this week off. It would make far more sense for the shops to be open this week, whilst everyone actually has time to look at bikes, and close a week or two earlier or later, when we are all at work...

Steve's Motorcycles in Midland was open today, as i got a nail large enough to tear of my hugger in the rear tyre of the SP along the GE Hwy and called past there un announced and they had it plugged and on my way again to Toodyay in 15min..

Never been there in my life and they were great blokes and would not hesitate to recommend them..
Oh and charged me a lazy $10 for their trouble

Rang Witch yesty a few times but no answer , so figured that they were having a bit of a break which is cool. A message left on the phone might have been a bit of a goer so as to let their customers know that they too need a life.

Rang Paul at Fifth Element and he was in a surprisingly good mood considering it was a million degrees and he was getting bombed with dumbarse phone enquiries on the Xmas/newy break.
Win for him though as he will be getting the bucks and the joy of my incompetence!

Some stores open up on the 3rd.. Ours is the 5th.. But most of my suppliers over east aint back till the 9th and even some here, that are the same.. So if you needed a part we don't have in stock, that has to come from eastern states.. It ain't going to happen.. Not for another week or so.. But if your that in need ..get on the Net..

We've been open since the 28th... I dont see why motorcycle dealers are any different to be honest

Yes i work at a car dealer
Our Father, Who art at Phillip Island, Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done
In the backroads as it is on the freeway
Give us this day our high-octane premium fuel
    And forgive us our lanesplitting
As we forgive the four wheel drives, the volvos and the taxis
And lead us not into gravel corners
But deliver us from hand-held radars
For thine is thy leather, thy denim, thy Gore-Tex and thy Kevlar

Shame that Australian retailers haven't/aren't allowed to embrace the internet...
