I would suggest maybe someone establishing a thread where people who have their bikes stolen, can post the rego and what's unique/different about the bike thats worth noting down. Simply an update and inforation thread but not a discussion thread.. That way we can all be notified if someone on here's bike has been stolen, put the rego number in out mobiles and keep a keen eye out!...just a suggestion! But overall, glad you got your bike back mate!

Yeh something similar but less crowded. People are less likely to remember this infomation if they need to read a a hundred pages of irrelevent posts to find the details ..a simple spot to highlight the stolen bikes make/model/number plate/ colour and mods and a pic! Simple and easy! No irrelevet comments...just a thought that would make users easier to get info to help others keep an eye out for their missing bikes!

Are you 100% on this? It was my understanding that only vehicles involved in fatalities cannot be re registered.

You mean it was still on the side of the road?
It looks like its been put down kinda gently on the opposite side to the road (left), bit of engine case scratching and a little bit of scratches on the fairings, nothing too drastic.

I wouldn't imagine the bike is a statutory write off then, as there is next to no damage, it should be classified as repairable, I will ring the cops this week and double check.

So its at AAAC towing? they said it would go straight to the cops yard for forensics....

One of the lids definitely isn't mine, the other is in the bag and I couldn't check cause its evidence.

Yeah it was in the forensic section. Even the rim didn't look too bad.

Spoke to the cops today (I took time off work and went in to the station, of course), cap'n fuckwit has been charged for theft of a motor vehicle and I was assured they would search his house for any other stolen items (who knows if they really will/have).
Hopefully they will ask me to testify/give a statement, etc

It will almost certainly be a repairable write-off. Stat write offs are only for vehicles which have irrepairable damage (broken frames etc.) and vehicles that people have died in/on.

Make sure you confirm this before working out the bikes value as I have heard of a bike being written off incorrectly as a stat write-off.

None at all, cops are apparently still dicking around with their forensics, I'm more worried about the possibility of recovering the rest of my toys that aren't insured, might pay to start checking local pawn shops in the area we found him.

I agree , just pics would be handy.
No posting bullshit, pics of the missing bikes and thats enough.
A quick look say weekly and I think alot would get noticed moore.

Give the case officer a call and see if the forensic job has been completed. I would be surprised if it hadn't by now. Once that's done, it's usually AAAC's job to give you a buzz to go pick it up. Let us know how you go.
