Interesting that while there's no denying those guys were hammering along, the R1 never got redlined once. To me, this goes to show how much overkill is built into open class bikes nowadays. Anyone who says they NEED a 1000cc bike 'cos a 600 isn't enough must be a superhuman living in a motorcycling utopia.

indeed a valid point , the old ZXR750 I had kept pace with little worry against the so called big boys , sure it pissed them off but hey lol
