    buying new bike

Thinking of buying a Triumph daytona 675
but its full price atm of 14800
they do have the GSXR600s for 13300 but the daytona is a better bike

Does anyone know when the triumph dealers have specials on?
if at all they do seem to be doing well enough as it is

define 'better'? would be interested to know.. I'm thinking of a daytona too at the mo; very tempted.. stuck between that and going for a thou in an r1 or ducati and just can't decide I don't 'strictly' need a thou..

been on a few rides with people with the 675 and they do seem to handle very well..

Yep, define better? Rate the handling and top end of the lil gixxer 6 way more than the trumpy, and comfort is in another league... But quickshifters and 'that' noise, along with the extra torque, are quite appealing...
Must say, that is a very good price for either bike? I assume that they are runout 2011 models and include ORC?
See if ya can get muffler or some accessories thrown in, and buy the one you want, not just the cheapest...

Best time to buy is Jan-March and go for the previous years left overs. Same bike, just the compliance plate is not stamped with the same year. You will save quite a bit. To give an example, Chapmans were doing 0km 2011 plated gixxer thou's for $14,300 ride away. That's about $4,500 cheaper than a 2012 plate

Ride both, get the one that gives you the biggest boner, regardless of cost.

At the rate they have been selling the 675 ever since they came out, and given what a bargain they are anyway, I can't see them dropping the price in the near future.

You won't look back in a years time and miss the $1500 if you liked the daytona better, but you will regret not getting it over the gixxer if you really want the 675. If you really want the gixxer, then just be happy it's cheaper and waste the $1500 on bling.

well each to their own but all the reviews say its better
I test rode a daytona it felt fast enough without being overkill unlike the Aprilla RSV4 I test rode
although the riding position was better on the RSV4
I liked the noise of both bikes although the RSV4 sounds abit better its almost double the price but comes with lots more electronic goodies which you definitely need!! with a 180hp engine.

I liked the daytona because its nimble fast and easy to chuck into corners plus unlike the aprilla it doesn't chew thru fuel as bad
also at 7-8k less its still priced like a bike.

I don't think i'll be doing any track riding though

You are comparing a 675 to an RSV4?

Have you even ridden the GSXR?

Are you looking at the base model Daytona 675 or the 675R?
Because for the extra cost, the 675R comes with a LOT of very nice goodies. Mr Bean on the forum rides one.

Thanks to the person that orginally answered my question about when the best time to buy is
I don't see the point in getting in a massive debate about personal preferences on bikes

I love it when people just assume that the goodies make the bike......how many of us are actualy using the supension properly? How many of the riders out there have actualy done anything to their suspension?

In regards to what's better...well, every rider is different and with that comes the fact that one will fit one bike better than another. As an example, I ride a CBR 1000 built '05 and rode a mates GSXR 1000 built '10 and I liked my bike way better than the newer and according to all tests better Suzuki. So what it comes down to is what Drasius said...buy the one you like best, not what a test tells you to buy...

The R model is really only worth it if you going to ride on the track
but I will get the quickshifter that looks pretty good expensive though for what it is $560 or so
not sure the exhaust is worth upgrading considing its fast enough for the street and sounds good when you open the throttle up and I'd have to retune it besides the stainless steel looks pretty nice as it is.

They are rarely doing specials. If you want to buy the cheaper bike, then go with the Suzuki.

Then again I can change gears pretty good as it is do I really need to spend 560 on it?
less electronics the better less can go wrong and it detracts from the bike feel when riding I think

    quickshifter on the 675
Sportbike Quick Shifter quickshift Triumph 675 - YouTube

tbh just having a guess but it probably only makes PRO riders an extra 2 secs faster around a track why bother for novice track riding even?

    Triumph World | Triumph Motorcycles

keep an eye on that if your in no rush, unfortunately they have changed it you used to be able to go back and see old deals/sales/offers etc. last time i was looking it was "new financial year period" they where offering freebies with new bikes, if you don't want a runout deal on a previous years model.

quickshifter is "Track/Off Road use only" so pineapple time on that one

    Well - it must work...

Perhaps its just a gimmick, but im sure that all of the big manufacturers, particularly the Euro producers (Trumpy, BMW, Aprilia, Ducati et all) wouldnt be using them on all their flagship models if they werent worth having?!
