Car is for sale, 2 wheels here I come. Need advice/opinions.

Put my car up for sale today and have already had heaps of interest so all is looking good on that front.

Now to the hard part, which 250 do I buy?
I've got around $5k to spend so most options are open, was just wanting peoples opinions on the different bikes.
I'm leaning towards a Hyosung but am open to ideas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.......

What sort of style do you prefer? Sports/naked/motard? I had a motard for my 250 and loved it. Rode it to work everyday and it was a breeze splitting lanes, with a good field of view. There are heaps of pretty decent 250s on gumtree at the moment.

don't lean too hard towards the hyosung as it you may fall over or apart

if you're happy with second hand the world is your oyster, test them all and buy the one that makes you happy in your pants.
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.

For a real nice, easy to ride, and surprisingly well handling bike, the CBR250Rs should be starting to come out 2nd hand now. (released April ish last year)
    season 2012 is coming.....

As a two year hyo owner,

I can say it lasted, survived and withstood me!!! My advice look for a second hand two fifty in good nick, at least one owner with 10k on the clock. The 10k km and good condition will ensure a bike that is strong enough that it lasted so far and it will last some more for you and the next guy. Cheaper then a new 250 by at least 1-2 thousands so that is the money you will use for general maintenance service or gear.

Hyo is good and cheaper then most, but my advice just go for good nick 1-2 owners, at least 10k on clock. dont go over 4000$ or that is just too much for a used bike

Don't spend big IMO on your 250. Buy cheap sit on it for a year, sell it and then spend big on your big boy bike.

Don't be a goose and buy a new 250 for like 6k and sell it year later for 5k if your lucky... It's just going to be west of money.

There are many bikes out there that you can get for cheap. Just get what ever you think looks good and save the rest for your dream bike.

buy a cbr250r , they have enough preformance to learn on , less parts to break in the engine " i think " and wont loose to much value over the 12 months u own it.

i got an old bunky zzr250 as my first bike for fairly cheap and figured id sell my car , then the bike blew up and i was without transport. so if you dont have another car go for something that is at least 2010 + like a ninja or a cbr.

Anything these days is pretty good. But as said before make sure it is reliable. The Hyo's have a bit of a bad rep, and for good reason they can either serve you well for your year, or they can be a real hassle (which mine is being atm :S). The ninja 250r is a pretty standard choice and is quite reliable as is the vtr, although the vtr is a bit on the more expensive side of things. Happy hunting

^^^ too true sparks. I rode dirties for my 250's just wish i had the monies for 'tard. Perfect for commuting (as long as its not lots of freeways kays). Great for shenanigans and sooo cheap to fix if its dropped. in most cases just pick it up and keep riding. did i mention shenanigans?

Thanks for the advice lads, I want a Nuda 900R for my first big boy bike so motard would be a good idea as I'm not a big fan of full fairing 250s. car sold today so will begin the hunt.

All right, brought myself a registered 04 CRF250X today. Shes pretty much stock atm, apart from an FMF titanium pipe and some aftermarket plastics. Picked it up this arvo and already have a list of aftermarket parts required. Now all I really need is a licence
