Civilians lift burning car off motorcyclist

Pretty crazy and amazing stuff. Good on them.

A group of civilians in Logan, Utah is credited with saving the life of a motorcyclist after he became trapped under a burning car. The incident took place after the 4,000lbs BMW 5-series crashed into the rider and was set alight by fuel spilling from the bike’s fuel tank. The rider, 21-year old Brandon Wright, is in stable condition.

The crash occurred when the driver of the BMW sorry-mate-didn’t-see-you’d Brandon as it pulled out of parking lot and into his path. In an attempt to avoid the car, police say Brandon threw the bike down. But, instead of missing it, he ended up sliding under BMW and becoming trapped.

A flames rose, construction workers, a man in a suit, a woman in sandals and students from the nearby Utah State University realized the danger Brandon was in and rushed to lift the heavy German sedan up far enough to pull him to safety.

Logan police are currently seeking the rescuers so they can be recognized for their bravery.

Lucky boy, not so much as a helmet and he sounds unscathed and in a stable condition. Well done those people.

An alternative title would have been "BBQ Squid draws hordes of obese Americans". Only amusing if he isn't actually burnt (he didn't look to be!).

Fantastic Stuff!! A far cry from my smash on Canning Hwy Bridge once. Got taken out by an idiot girl's illegal manouver at about 6pm after work. I would say at least 300 cars would have driven pass/swerved around my wrecked bike and her car and NOT 1 SINGLE motorist stopped to help/check if we were ok. Even the bystanders at the bus stop just stood and watched my limp-ass try and pick my bike up and then hobble off. Gone are the days when us sandgropers would stop and wait for a few chivalrous drivers to clear the way.
...All for one...and that one is me me me!

If he didn't 'throw his bike down' maybe he would have just skidded across the top of it.

Laying it down is bad mkay

In Perth you would have been issued with both a parking ticket and a fine for lighting a fire during a fire season whilst lying on the road in flames.

Uless you were a cop. Then it would have been ok.
The universe likes speed. Don't delay. Don't second guess. Don't doubt. When the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuitive nudge from within is there, act.

I love the way they drag him out by his legs and then leave him why they put out the fire

They get him out of there then wait for the ambulance I guess, the last thing you want to do is "help" and cause more damage because your ass will get SUED.

Sure the CO2 or dry powder did wonders for his respiration.

Note how not one person even bothered to check his vitals or try to speak to him - Christ knows how long he lay there before the Ambo's carted him off. And yep - fat fucker in the suit should be had up for failing to render assistance.
I wouldn't call it fascism exactly, but an (American) political system nominally controlled by an irresponsible, dumbed down electorate who are manipulated by dishonest, cynical, controlled mass media that dispense the propaganda of a corrupt political establishment can hardly be described as democracy either - Edward Zehr

They probably could have flipped that car if the driver's door wasn't open.

Due to this Bystander effect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia it is imperative that given any hazardous situation you recognise the counter-productive effect that people en-masse have in decisive, potentially harm minimising action. By having an awareness of this detrimental human tendency you should (at least in part) feel responsible to step up to the situation.

The other week a bloke I row with was involved in a crash in the Perth city centre. His ute was T-boned by a red light runner (they were charged from what I heard). His triton ute was flipped and spun. The other driver got out and was checking his car over. Bystanders later asked the red light runner where the other driver was. He said he was still in his car. At this point he was still knocked out and strapped into his wrecked and upside down ute.

I thought this as well, but noticed the police man making sure everyone was back out of the way out of danger in case the car/bike blew up, thought they could have pulled him further to safety though.

Ambo's must have been fairly close though, I didnt' have sound on, but maybe they heard them?
