Convert your 450cc dirt bike to a road racer!

This looks freaking awesome. Would love to see a few of these having a blast around barbs. Looks like it could be a nice alternative to a 250cc smoker. Although going from the price mentioned on the link it doesn't seem to be too cheap to get done.

There's a nice little video on the link of it getting put together.

BeOn Makes Bolt-On Dirt Bike to 450GP Race Bike Kit - Asphalt & Rubber

Spainís BeOn Automotive has developed a kit capable of converting popular 450cc motocross bikes into single-cylinder road racers for little effort and cost. The concept isnít new, Roland Sands Designs has been making single-cylinder racers for some time now, and the racing class is alive and well in Southern California, but having a bolt-on kit like this is much needed first. Like the RSD SuperSingles, the Project 450GP kit utilizes the stock frame frame and engine, and only swaps components like the suspension, bodywork and wheels.

Kits are currently available for the Kawasaki KXF 450, KTM SXF 450, Yamaha YZF 450, Honda CRF 450 and Suzuki RMZ 450 and consist of the following components:

    - 43mm USD Marzocchi fork with 120mm travel
    - new triple clamps
    - modified MX shock
    - road race clip-ons and pegs
    - 120/70-17 3.5″ front rim
    - 155/60-17 4.5″ rear rim
    - Dunlop slicks
    - Brembo radial pump and caliper for front brake
    - 320mm Sunstar front disc
    - new chain and sprockets
    - new bodywork, including fuel tank cover
    - digital clocks

Weight and power will depend on your donor bike of course, but one can expect a weight around 230 pounds and 55hp. The cost for the kits is around Ä4,200 ($5,400). If you happen to live in Spain, BeOn has a ready to race KTM version ready to go. BeOn is part of a larger, international effort to foster 450cc single-cylinder road racing. One-off races or small support series are being organized throughout Europe and there was even one last September at Mid Ohio.

Yes, a SM would be AWESOME fun! But this is just a different type of ride. Different strokes for different folks.

And thinking about it, €4200, or approx $8200 (plus freight), isn't THAT bad I guess... The forks would have to be worth around $1000 on their own? Add to that maybe $5000 for a decent second hand bike (no idea of dirt bike prices). Be a fun little package. Any idea what sort of class it would fit into over here?

    Some more information here;

It would be able to race in formula 2 but it'd get killed by the SV650s and TZ250s running around. If the rules weren't so open then it'd be an awesome competitive alternative.

    Hmm... looks alright, but seriously...

    $8000? Plus donor bike?

For about 14k or so you could probably get a secondhand Honda RS250 (or Aprilia RS250, Yamaha TZ250, etc) race-prepped 2 stroke 250 with 90hp or so...

    edit:
or as rich said, just get a motard/motard your dirt bike and go just as quick probably...

This should be here. Now. Give it to me.

It'd be a nice feeder class.

This is what I like about it.

It would be great fun to ride. Competition would be close. It would be good to watch.

The cost? I'm sure some innovative types around here would be able to get together a similar sort of setup for MUCH less $$$.
