    Decisions, decisions!

    Hey all,

Getting straight to the point i have my CBR600RR. Shes got 4,000kms on the clock and pristine condition. I believe (and correct me if im wrong ;p) that in order to fully understand a bikes dynamics im going to need to hit the track with some saddle time (when im in Perth next year). Now my only problem is i dont want to come a cropper with the hannspree as i would be devistated and like all things, learning usually accompanies failures lol .

Im deciding to buy another bike (ontop of the hannspree), maybe something like an aprilla 250 or simular to take down the track and not really worry if i can it. Im already looking at full leathers so i can appear on the track, however im stuck as to if i should buy another bike.

Do the track days usually see people wash out often?

If so, would anyone have a prefered bike that would see binning it not really a worry?

Ive seen 'stunt' bikes, just not sure what excactly they entail. Money is never an issue however as im investing in realestate heavily so im cautious with finances (I think they call it being a 'scrooge' haha) Its all good and dandy i can ride on the street, but i think theres more to it then just that

    Any insight would be good.

    Cheers,

    Eric

Q: do you ride like a complete toolbag on the road?

If the answer is YES then you may well come a cropper on the track.
If the answer is NO and you ride within your limits then its actually a lot safer than dealing with the fuckwits out there on the street.

I suspect that frame sliders and 1 set of replacement fairings will be cheaper, IF you need them (you probably won't, if you don't ride like a tool), than an entire second bike (+rego/insurance/raceglass/fairings) for track days if you only plan to go occasionally for rider training stuff.

Just take your time figuring it out. There is no rush to put yourself in the sand-trap.

Cheers for the replies. Now that you mention it, all the extra costs is far more expensive then just taking my time and using the DoubleR. Never really thought of it that way. I stick within my limits with most things sportwise, so id like to think that id be alright. Just need to get me some nice leathers and boots i spose.

Whats a set of race fairings worth?

Cheers Battern, ill have a browse at those threads!

I started on my 916 at AHG doing the Advanced Ride Day, & then the tuning days. Progressed to Trackdayz & MCRC at Barbs. Nearly binned the Duc one day so bought a track bike, once I had that (it was a full race bike) I acquired the 'fruit' to go with it, trailer, warmers, stands, etc. It was only a few short steps from there to go racing.

    Cya there .

Tyga do raceglass for the 600RR...

Bodywork and Carbon - Tyga Performance

    Personally i wouldn't bother.

I'd get some crash knobs from R&G, and then buy replacement fairing bits IF you bin it.

I heard a whisper that Ric Steel (Motomax) *MAY* be considering offolading another of his TZ250's...
These things are an AWESOME trackbike, and have a FAR sturdier frame and running gear than any streetbike.

You bin any streetbike reasonably hard and you're risking bending expensive bits beyond repair and writing it off.
A TZ will take HUGE punishment and be rebuildable.
Besides... you'll round up EVERYTHING mid-corner and have a fantastic time doing it!

Yes - i am a biased 'stroker fan.... but it's all valid feedback for you AFAIC.
