Ok firstly keep your 'you shouldnt be listening to music on the bike!' replies to yourself thanks!

What earphones have you / do you use in your helmet? My ipod ones hurt like hell and fall out of my ears, I just bought some sennheiser ones with a lanyard, theyre' a little better than the ipod ones but still will get a bit sore, and can relocate too easy...

Are there like velcro on earphones that stick on the inside of the helmet available for reasonable price and with reasonable quality?

I reckon in-canal earphones will be the most comfortable and will stay put.

The added advantage is that they block a fair amount of noise so they'll act like earplugs too.

Check out Etymotics for awesome in-ear monitors.

    Got 'em. Love 'em.

Can still hear sirens, horns etc. But the wind noise is almost completely blocked and the quality of the toonz is awesome.

If you can afford them, Etymotics FTW!

there are some velcro speakers that tuck inside the linning that i have but are only good for long distance runs as even they are cumbersome.

I find the Sony Erickson plugs are great once you have found the right size rubber inserts

I've got a set of these. They're the "pad" style speakers that attach inside your helmet with velcro. There was a write-up on them somewhere on PSB (that's how I was put onto them), but I can't find it now.

Anyway, I find them comfortable. They probably don't block out as much wind noise as in-ear speakers, but I knew that'd be the case. It just means that after about $1.30 it becomes hard to hear the music. The speakers can crank up uncomfortably loud without crackling (using only an iPod for powering them).

If you want a look at them, just gimme a yell mate.

EDIT: No retailers in Perth that I'm aware of.

We have the Autocom Intercom kit and we plug the iPod into it which plays the music to us both and we can still talk. You can do it one up as well.

You can plug your mobile into it and when a call comes in the pillion is disconnected and you take the call (voice activated of course) and when the other person hangs up the pillion reconnects automatically and music plays

    Got ours from Helmet House.

Go ahead and play the blues if it'll make you happy.

I've got to try and find the magazine I saw them in now, but if you don't mind spending a few dollars there's some nice ear plug options that include a headphone setup.

One of them was molded to your own ears, slap them in and jive away. Very, very cool.

Wireless 'phones would be cool. There's an idea for someone. You'd just have to worry about the battery acid on your face if you had a decent knock.

^^^WSS and it fixes neatly into your helmet with velcro strips (supplied), you can also buy a two way radio and talk to another rider who has the same setup. I've never found decent sounding headphones that don't kill my ears with a helmet on.

Drop into LSK, 21 Harrogate St, Leederville. They operate 2 shops from the one showroom, bought some similar HQ canal phones for the missus iPOD. Sound is awesome.
    Cheers!!

Koss KC22's. Got them duty free a couple of years back en route to singapore, but have seen them in JB's.

Come in handy for jogging etc too, and dont ruin your ears/hurt.

I know this doesn't help, but I've heard the bluetooth / ipod / intercom system that comes for the Nolans (which I have) are actually pretty good. The BMW system is meant to be half decent as well. Are there any other helmets that cater for this without going aftermarket?

I use Phillips headphones with the holder that goes over your ears. They don't move or fall out, they are a much better fit since the top of your ear if holding their tiny weight and don't hurt at all, over any time.

I located some earphones on Ebay. They are padded and come with velcroto fix into the helmet.

They come with a stereo type jack which I have tucked inside the edge of the helmet between the outer shell and the padding. That way the plug is out the way and doesn't interfere when putting the helmet on a flat surface.

Can't remember the cost, but pretty cheap.

They are good for normal cruising. Not so good cruising into hyperspace!
