Question

was so happily riding my newly purchased bike for several weeks until today, when i've received an invoice for STAMP DUTY and transfer fee. This is to my surprise (cause i'm a fool) because at the time of purchase The salesperson told me that the price included on road costs (ORC), at which i thought it was a good deal (minus the discount).

feeling slightly irritated (and light pocketed) so i called the Honda Shop in midland to asked why do i have to pay for this invoice, to which they answered (some dude than later Peter the salesperson) ORC for veh transfer and stampduty fees only paid for by the shop if it a brandnew bike and not second hand (this was not explain to me at the time of purchase) and other legal mumble jumble stuffs.

being your average consumer, I know that i have to pay for ORC but not when it included in the salesprice. so, I calmly argued the facts (ocr was included in the salesprice and that stamp duty and transfer fees are on road costs) over the phone to which they responded with sorry - must be mis-communication - sorry - come back and we'll sort you out with accessories - sorry, we'll make it up to you -to which i gave up and hung up the phone.

the morale of the story is salespeople only want to make a sell, you make up the different. $$$

(ps. The honda shop did paid for bike lic/rego as a part of the ORC. )

Does anyone else know this? or i'm i the only fool..

you got angry when they were going to hand you accessories for you not realising you had to pay transfer costs? just curious

i wish it'll free, with my luck i'll get 5% off but already got ripoff once, do i really want to go back for another. Most accessories are cheaper on the net, all you have to do i wait for a couple of weeks.

Well, instead of speculating about what they will and won't do, go and see them and have a chat to them. Most places I've been too are more than happy to work with you to solve a problem if you're reasonable about the whole thing.

well i'd be pissed if the price was incl ORC and i was expected to pay transfer fees and stamp duty. gotta meet halfway though so the value of the fees in gear would be fine with me

Check out your sales contract and see if the ORCs are included, if they are you got a case if not... sucks to be you.

sound like good advice, will see if what they offer is but they didn't give me much of a discount when i try to buy a jacket from after just bought with the bike.

Maybe see if they will give you the next scheduled service for free?
I can't think what more you could possibly need to know... except maybe this:

just looked on the contract to buy/invoice. under stamp duty (client to pay) it have a dash (-) in the box. This usually mean nil, so i might have something here but most likely nothing.

It sux when you agree on something that really meant something else.

i guess, that another pay cheque to the MAN.

when i bought my car 2003 ute, the sales person told me the new car warrenty was still valid.

other dealers i spoke to told me the new car wasn't transferable as it was a commercial vehicle.

i went back to the 1st dealer and asked him again. he stood by his word. i still wasn't feeling comfortable so i asked for it in writing so he scribbled it on the back of his business card no signiture or anything. i asked him to sign it which he did with some form of un-readible scribble.

thankfully i havent had to use the warrenty as yet but would this hold up in at all?

It all should be written on your contract b4 you sign, then you know what you are signing for ..... Find out b4 you buy exactly what you will be paying .....

HAHA, why not ask him to write it up properly? If you felt insecure at the time this should have been the first thing you asked for. ce la ve (or however its spelt)
