AN 18-year-old Kambalda man is the first person to be charged under Western Australia's revised hoon laws, after eye-witnesses dobbed him in to police.
Police charged the man with reckless driving on information provided by a witness.
Police allege the man was driving an unregistered Holden Commodore at excessive speeds in Kambalda about 5.15pm on Monday.
Witnesses told police that the sedan was also driven into the bush with the rear fish-tailing and raising a dust cloud before it struck a ditch and became airborne.
A complaint was lodged within 15 minutes and witnesses provided a police statement the next day detailing their observations and concerns.
Police went to the driver's house on Tuesday afternoon and charged him with reckless driving, driving without a licence and driving an unregistered vehicle.
His Commodore was impounded for 48 hours and he is due to appear in the Kambalda Magistrate’s Court on May 15.[/b]
