french bringing in compulsory hi vis for motorcyclists

i wonder if this will stop in France. The Brits have a petition going

Hi-vis gear compulsory in France from next year - | Motorcycle News | Bike News | Motorbike Videos | MCN

    https://submissions.epetitions.direc...etitions/26931

I like this bit haha (We question the right of motorists to hold driving licenses if they are incapable of seeing a rider and motorcycle unless clad in high visibility clothing.)

if all fails we may only be able to ride something like this

    C-1 fully-enclosed self-balancing motorcycle - YouTube

i for one believe i could be lit up like a Christmas tree and still not be seen

The other side to this is insurance company's introducing fine print

Well at least we will all look like cashed up mine workers.

On a serious note, Police on motorcycles still dont get seen and are run over on occasion so really what are they trying to achieve, hi vis cars next?

    EDIT =

Drivers would probably say the extra lights above and around you distracted them and they would still run into the motorcyclist

All cars in France must by law carry a high-via vest for a few years now and if you get out of your car on roadside you must wear it.

    Sounds like our work cars.

I have one in the boot of my car also.

It really isn't a bad idea to have one prancing around on the edge of the road, may help save your life.

Its hard enuff to get gear to fit me, I am sure it will be harder to find some with Hi Viz as well.
    Peace out

If it goes on like this, one day we will see our camouflaged service men/women go to war in Hi-Viz.
The universe likes speed. Don't delay. Don't second guess. Don't doubt. When the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuitive nudge from within is there, act.

    From "Good Morning Vietnam" :

Cronauer: "We've got a special man in the audience today right now...it's Mr. Leo. He's a fashion consultant for the Army."

Cronauer as Mr. Leo: "Why thank you, Adrian. I'm just very happy to be here. I want to tell you something. You know, this whole camouflage thing for me doesn't work very well."

    Cronauer:
    "Why is that?"

Cronauer as Mr. Leo: "Well, because you go into the jungle, I can't SEE you! You know, its like wearing stripes and plaid! For me, I want to do something different. You know, if you go in the jungle, make a statement! If you're going to fight, CLASH!""

mmm you sure about that? When I went to Le Mans to watch the motogp, there were about 80,000 people there on bikes with more than 100bhp

The reflective area must be on the upper body and cover at least 150 square centimetres. The requirement will apply to riders and pillions and is likely to affect foreigners travelling in France.

that's a friggin big area, what happens if you're a petite little lady, your gear won't even be that size, wonder if they are counting front and back?

If the bike is registered in France then it is limited to 100hp, you can ride a 150hp bike that's registered elsewhere into France without penalty though.
Is such a thing even possible?

Not as big as you would think, about the size of an L plate if not smaller, picture 10cm by 15cm or variations that add up to 150cm squared eg a 50cm strip 3cm wide or two strips 25cm by 3cm on the back of a jacket
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.

The law in several countries in Europe has required all road users to wear hi vis vests when not inside their vehicles for some time now - this isn't such a big jump.
