Front number plate trial in Tas

And before you all remind me that the front number plate thread has been done to death I know and these are the are the links to all of them.
    Front number plates
    Front number plates........
    Petition against front number plates
    Front Number plates
    Front Number Plates
    Front Number Plates....again
Now we have sorted that out, I have read in last weeks AMCN magazine that the Hobart police will be trialing front number plates, they will be a decal that is displayed on the windscreen of the bike. One of the comments in the article states from Jim Cox the minister for poolice and emergency "I have been advised by the Tasmanian police that the adhesive decal has been used on all their motorcycles as part of a project being conducted by the VicRoads on behalf of the national ministerial council for road safety"
But they also said that there had been a meeting with the Tasmanian Motorcycle council and said that there will be no move towards the reintroduction of frontal identification on motorcycles unless it was a national move.

This is a very sensitive issue that has been discussed over and over again, please do not use this thread as a police bashing exercise, I personally don't agree with the idea of the front number plates and as one of the threads that I have the link to believe we could possibly contribute to the petition that is available online, or start a new one from WA.Stop The Proposed "Front Number Plate" Laws For Motorcyclists*-*Online Petition
I have signed the VicRoads petition and there are about 13000 signatures to date, This will not be enough in my opinion to stop this from happening.

I'm happy to open this thread into a poll if that's what is want.

So on the Police bikes, yeah?
Well there's a lot of real estate on a Police bike - plenty of room for a decal. That system cannot work on all bikes, so until they come up with something that can, I can't see it happening. Seems pretty pointless in Tassie anyway, since all their speed cameras are rear firing. Weird move.

All? As in every one of their cameras? As in there are no front on detection cameras there?

    Sorry....find that a bit strange.

    Update:
I have added a poll anyway, not to see if we do or don't want the front plates as I know 99.9% will say no but asking if we think that it may become compusary.

No what they will do is force you to pay for yor bike to be modified to accept a metal bracket on top of the headlight or under it. Trust me the ole my bike is a naked wont work with them

    Alright, so excuse my ignorance.
But aside for it looking stupid and making us easier to get done by the cops, are there any other reasons for not having a 'sticky' on the front (I've got the attention span of a 10yr old, so I haven't read through all the other threads)?

I don't know of any other countries that have front plates (Can some one prove me wrong?). Why would Australia be the first???????

The "trial licence plate on the front of cop bikes" thing was also tried here back in 2002-2003 as I recall. May have been later but the fact remains they have tried it here.

How many cop bikes in WA do you see with licence plates on the front of them now?

    None.

However if there is a will, there is a way.

OK... so the whole reason they're doing it is because apparently it will save X lives per year.

If the trial doesn't reduce the bike road toll in Tasmania, will they please fuck off with the idea?

I hate the though of it, but I voted "yes", coz I think that the fuckers in power are pushing this just to piss us off, and to show us that they can do it.
I would love to be proven wrong!

I think he meant that nekids have no place to stick it...

Saying that, i dont think it's too much of a strech to get stickers somewhere on the left hand side of a bike, cameras these days would have the res to pick up a small tag.

Not that I like the idea...
