    gixxer 750 or thou??

I can't seem to find anything on old threads and it's still a while before 'my time' comes but I want to know... 750 or thou?? I have read heaps of reviews and the finger points toward the 750 but I want to know from the riders. I haven't ridden any (I have ridden an old gsxf 750 a few times)

It seems trying to find a post 2005 750 (11ish would be my budget) is as rare as hen's teeth, but I see there are a few thou's. If this is the case in a few months.. is the 750 that much better/rounded as a street bike?

anyone bought bikes from over east?

The 750 is the better bike...

The 1000 needs more rider input to get the best out of it...

The 1000 is quicker exiting the corners and at top speed...

    750 wins everywhere else...

    I have a GSXR 750..
    It Virtually Rides itself.
    But mines a K8.
Its Comfortable.. Corners awesomely and when I was in the market Everyone said a 600 was too small and a 1000 would be too big ( fast ).
I looked at the R1..CBR.. BMW ZX's as well, they were all way to Big and Heavy for me to ride.
Being a Short arse I had to get a lowering Link put in it so my feet would reach the ground.
all I can say is.. My Gixxer is.. Perrrrrfect.
    What you See....

    Isnt Always what you GET..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a long time 750 owner (nearly a week so far) with many K's on it's saddle under my belt (picked it up, rode it home and pulled it to pieces) I can give my expert opinion in saying: Ride them both. Pick which one you like best.

Yeah, hard to answer. Loved the older 750's (srads), but after the k3's, would actually prefer a 600. Same handling, more input and effort to get result, more rewarding i guess. The thou is the opposite, all power, to ride it fast is as hard as to get speed from the 600, but more rewarding with controlling the speed. Personnaly, get a thou if you can, a 600 if you cant. Nothing wrong with the 750, just doesn't tickle my fancy...

Oh, first big bike? Not a thou....imho

Selling my K6 750.. will have brand new paintwork on it too, so no stone chips/scratches/etc... which would fit in your budget. Getting some work done to it now, but prob have it back in about a week

I really don't understand that... There's only a few kgs difference between the 750 and any of the thousands, in fact I think some of the thous are lighter. Pretty sure the GSXR1000 is either the same height or lower too. Sat on one, felt tiny compared to R1.

If you like revving it, go the 750, if you are a lazy rider go the thou. I have no problem with any thou until top end speed and the thou will pull away. but how often are you doing top end speed.
It hurts too much to laugh, but you're too big to cry

Getting a rear swingarm protector lug fixed, and then off to repaint. Those pics are of the dodgy paintjob, the colours will be the same but the finish perfect. Quoted around $1400/$1500, so bike price will be just over $10k

Great bike, I wouldn't sell it if I had more room in garage

thanks Kristy that was perfect for what I wanted to know.

my crystal ball tells me you will grow weary of your 750 in a few months and will be looking to upgrade to the thou

hence you will be looking for potential buyers

I love the 750. But honestly, spend some time on both and see what suits you. IMO the thou will be overkill for your first big bike but that's only based on my personal preference. Will you outride the 750.....no.

well, since you own both, you're opinion counts for a lot..

I also sense you will grow weary of your 750 in a few months and will be looking to sell it

Went from a 05 Gixxer 600 was a fun bike but I felt a little like i was ringing its neck around town and even more so on the highway (riding to uni and home town etc.). I now have the K8 GSXR 1000, it is insane.

    My thoughts
750 - great bike around town, handles like a 600 with a decent amount more go go. might suffer a bit on longer trips (cant speak though never tried)

1000 - effortless power, good for overtaking, dont see me ever being bored with it or ringing its neck like the 600 (although I doubt I would on the 750 either). downside it is a decent amount heavier than others and did feel a bit weird stepping up to it.

Ride both, search for prices. Much of a muchness (unless you want wank factor like me then get the thou ha ha ha).

If I were buying new I'd have the 750, no doubt.

If you're getting a used one then I think the actual bike you buy is much more important than whether it's 1000 or 750. Just get the best one you can find regardless of capacity. For 95% of the riding you do (on the street anyway) you're going to be at rpm where the difference in output from the two is negligible.
