    got hit by a cab

So as the title says i got hit by a cab at an intersection at low speed about 15km an hour, he was droping ppl off and was parked on the wrong side of the road i saw him but he did not put his indicators on so i pulled out he then started to drive off and then t-boned me. he addmitted to me that he was distracted and did not see me (in other words was not looking when pulling out).

The damage as far as i can see is a bent radiator and front brake handle (took the brunt of the impact and fall) and a small scratch on my exhaust pipe, no damage to the fuel tank or any other part of the bike. I am taking it to my mechanics to get a quote and see if they can find anything wrong with it. I the think the cab driver is going to pay for it but i am not sure. Does it sound like i am in the wrong here. I asked the police about it and they said that due to the fact that it was a minor accident and i was not hurt and because we exchanged details that it is an insurance matter and that they would not investigate it.

I ride an 88 honda VT 250 Spada, anybody had to replace these parts before, and could possible tell me how much it is going to cost.

I'm sure you will have no trouble sourcing a new radiator.

I hate fuckers that park on the wrong side of the road. I turned right at the terminating road at a T-intersection around the corner from my place and all of a sudden some turd in a Mercedes talking on the phone is coming at me.

Get very quick quote from repair man, if it is too high then just flick it onto your insurance company to deal with.

It's illegal to park facing into traffic, so you're safe from blame

So safe as to not get hit? Apparently not.

Good outcome though, your not hurt. Hopefully the insurance process is quick for you.

yea thanks guys i am really hoping this all gets settled quick. I found a brake handle for $40 on ebay but i am really worried about the radiator cause i have yet to find one anywhere online. And yes it was a nice step learning curve, one of the things going through my mind before i got hit other than "SHIT" was "so this is one of those situations they tell you not to get into when operating a motorcycle" but some how i came out on top no scratches or bruises, feel sorry for the bike, i will up load some pics tomorrow. I am pretty much screwed with handing it off to my insurance company because of my excess which is $600.

You only pay the excess if you are at fault.

Well you may have to pay it but you get it back if not at fault.

Something needs to be done about taxi's. As a doorman, standing on the same in door in the last 6 weeks i have seen 2 people dragged along by taxi's and as they let go of the car they hit the ground. They werent hurt seriously but its a matter of time. The first time i saw it i thought i was watching somebody die it was that dramatic.

try 2 wheel wreckers for the radiator. I know they're stripping a vt250f integra, i'm pretty sure the radiator should fit your spada without issues. Check with morgan there, he's fantastically knowledgable!

He's in NSW. You could try wreckers over there, but I really wouldn't worry about it. Your insurance company should take care of it for you, and you won't be out of pocket the excess cost as you're not at fault.
