I volunteered to do the cutter run yesterday & headed for the Cottesloe Hotel about 9PM. to pick up No1 son

I dont drive much at night & I got totally lost somewhere in Jollimont, did a confident right turn & headed down the wrong side of dual carriageway. OOPS.

Realised error & turned left at first hole available, right across Mr Plod.

Blue lights ablaze behind me, I stopped. I was very distressed & shaking like the aspen tree. He asked where I was going & upon hearing my explanation, he calmed me down, Then gave me an escort to the hotel, waved goodbye & went on his way.

These guys get a lot of bad press, but these two deserve nothing but praise. Just thought I would like to share this with you.

"Son, could you please remove my MAD sig?"

    Sure mum, here you go....

Ive also got a happy police story today: I may have been going down Canning Hwy this arvo when I was pinged by a plod with a hair dryer. I may have been doing around the 75-ish mark but he just looked at me and waved his index finger left to right and sent me a mental SMS "Naughty boy, slow down now!"

I gave him a nod and a thumbsup

I feel sorry for the coppers (*waits for flame war). I honestly think most of them are trying to do right by us all. Sure some have the 'power trip' thing happening, but mostly they're decent ppl caught between us and the pollies who want to be 'seen' to be doing the right thing. The cops, unfortuanely, are just pawns in there evil game.

Thing with the cops actually on patrol that you do stand the chance of them assessing the situation and letting you go on by, whereas with stupid cameras its a set arbitrary figure and thats that.

Having more coppers on the beat would be better all round, safer for ppl, and the cops wouldn't get as stressed and liable to overreact etc

I do know there are some good cops out there trying, trouble is sometimes it seems all we meet are the bad ones.

    Good to hear something different.

I guess it's better to know they're getting home safe. The alternatives are not worth contemplating.

Hehe..make 'em a deal. You'll give them $50 to go out, on the condition it's only on a Tuesday Night (or whichever night is the quietest). They'll be home by 10pm, with $40 in change!

+1 That's why we have cops (and not just robots, er if that were possible anyway) so they can actually discern the law is black and white BUT every situation isn't. My last experience:

Late one night (about 12ish), going down Orrong at about 110km/h, weekday, not much traffic at all... Had a long day just wanted to get home to the comfy comfy bed... When out of nowhere the blue lights appear in the rear view, must've been parked in the shadows of a side street (nice one). Me, absolutely shitting my pants, given hoon laws just come in etc etc... I step out of the car and I get the standard do you know how fast you were going, why were you going so fast etc.. I just be honest and tell him i was going over 100, and that i just wanted to get home.. He gives me the lecture (with all good intentions) of how I was going 40 over the speed limit, he could confiscate my car/license, fine my ass till I bleed, I agree... He then tells me to pop the bonnet, looks over the engine bay, sees there's a little bit of oil on the block and say, ok I'm going to give you a yellow sticker, get that fixed up and you can go, does that sound reasonable?? I think it was a fair call and go on my merry way...

It was a pain in the ass to get my car cleaned up and taken over the pits but at the end of the day it only cost me about $100 and no demerit points, and yeah I actually have a car which doesn't leak anymore (In comparison to how bad it could've been). I don't think he saw destroying my license was fitting in this case Cheers Buddy.
