    Great little surprise tyre modification

Now for those of you with weak stomachs please dont look at these pics..

Im sure you could all imagine my excitement and anticipation when i returned from holiday with my newly acquired fiance (as of last week ) to see my baby parked happily in the garage!!!

So after everything had settled down i went out to give her a proper cuddle disgusted at how dirty she was as i got home in the rain last week and only had a couple hours to pack suitcases and race off. But that aside i was so eager to mount her and take her for a little burst.

After starting and letting her run for a little bit to warm up i was just wiping my helmet clean when out of the corner of my eye i spot this massive piece of metal poking out of my rear tyre WTF!!!

Upon closer inspection i find a fucking screwdriver poking in the opposite way and want to cry... i wriggled it a little and the air just leaks out..

I had planned to try and book my first trip to barbagallows this weekend for race craft and the tyres were not cheap and havent got that much wear

So aside from the sob story and my broken heart any ideas as to what i need to fix this, is it repairable? bearing in mind i want to take it to the track.. or do i need to cough up another 300 odd for a new pilot power 2ct

depends where it is on the tyre... if its in the middle it should be repairable.. off to the sides and nope

    Wtf?
    lol.
Mate, take it back to whoever did your last tyre change, they owe you a new tyre.
EDIT: Yes, that tyre is pluggable by the way.

Guys, it's coming from the inside.
    Out.
It's been left in the tyre/wheel when it was refitted.

Don't they normally take the screwdriver back out if they do that?- more importantly- is it a good brand? phillips or flat head?

You're presuming it has a handle on it...

    Whys that mate?

I seriously doubt the screwdriver came from inside the tyre.

By the looks of the pic dreamer you should be able to repair that.

Looks repairable. The offending philips-head appears to be sticking through fairly straight. When they fix these, they do the repair from the inside rather than just chucking a plug in from the outside like you can with a car tyre.

I know a few people on here have done track days on plugged tyres so I don't think you'll have any issues.

Pop down to you tyre shop armed with $300 and if you're lucky you'll get to keep $275 of it

Anyone able to comment on the location of the puncture ( in the actual groove of the tread ) and whether that's a good or bad thing?

as for pissing people off probably but there is no way that was there when i last left on it and since i got the bike home it has been parked in a locked garage with massive chain on it..

looking at the way it has rubbed on the rear hugger it hasnt been there long

haha yeah the thing is the place that i got them done is one of psb's highly rated tyre dealers, so im thinking from what has been said it is an honest mistake, or somehow, that thing has got in there with no handle on it

Um, pull on it to find out?
Please don't tell me you are riding to the tyre shop with that in there are you? Seriously, if that flies out, you are liable to kill someone.

yep, try and pull it out... flat tyre or not, you're going to have to trailer it to the shop to get fixed, so may as well find out before you get there whether or not it's your fault...
