    Helmet brands

    Hi guys

I'm looking at buying a helmet, only want to spend 300-400. I don't know what brands are good really. I know arai, shoei are good, but they're too much. What are those other brands like rjays, hgv (or whatever it is) etc like?

    What would you recommend anyway?

    cheers..

HJC are alright for that money. You could even get a tinted/iridium visor chucked in.

Also try Shark, they do a pretty good helmet, and some of their models would fit in that price bracket.

You could also get a few of the AGV's as well, another long established brand in the market.....

Try them all on - different people are more comfortable with different brands, they're all slightly different shape.

Make a list of the three most comfortable that you can afford.

Google 'em, make a decision, buy.

    Hmmm... good helmets?

    Walk in to Causeway.
Find any helmet there that's roughly $300-$400. Chances are, it's a good quality helmet.

HJC and OGK come to mind. But quite literally, if you do the above your noggin will probably be ok.

Well I would not say "Shoei are good, but they're too much" have a look at these prices for Shoei helmets at The Helmet Warehouse. These guys have a good range helmets and are decently priced, find the one you like go to the shops try it for size ask for them to match the price (bring the print of the add) and see what they say if not you'll at least know what size you need and order one on-line...

    Good luck mate...

Nolan. Good enough for Casey, good enough for me I personally would just walk into helmet house and say 'show me the best helmets you have for 400 bucks' and pick the one that fits the best. Mine was about 360 I think and I couldn't be happier.

Just bought a new cheapie, until I decide on a new dear on.
Its a Rjays and complete with tinted visor was only just over $200, no idea how its gonna hold up in a crash, but its comfortable and will do for now.

Yes you could get an icon from the states, but without that nice shiny silver and red sticker on the back it aint gonna be legal here in Australia if the cops ping ya.

I got my AGV Air-Tech for $250. Has double-D straps, removable/washable liner and quick release visor. I paid $250 for it from The Motorcycle Pitstop. I don't think they have any in stock but Craig can order them in. They are the same fit as the more expensive Ti-Tech (the same helmet Rossi wears).

Also, remember solid colours are $30-$50 cheaper than graphics.

I tried on an AGV and a 200$ rjays one. Both fit well and were comfy. My friend thought that the rjays one seemed to be of too cheap construction, so I'm not sure about it. Does anyone have any info on it? Are they shit? Because for that price wouldn't they be? But they have to meet design standards or whatever dont they?

hjc one seemed good and to be of better construction.

I wasnt sure about any of them, because I hadn't heard of any of these brands, being a noob..

I have an R jays helmet as a spare, I only had it 2 weeks and the strap broke, they said that this had never happened before and so replace it, I went out and bought a new helmet ( rgv ) after that.

Well I havent actually ridden with the Rjays one on yet, yes its obviously a lot cheaper construction than some of the others, will just have to see how well it holds up.
I'll probably end up relegating it to a spare helmet in the near future once I finally find another one that I really like or as a few people have pointed out:
