Pretty amazing he passed! My bike would stall on second gear while doing the U-0 turns, Interesting he managed to pull it off.

Is it possible he had it in first gear without realising it?
If the gearing wasn't explained to him properly (or if he didn't tell the instructor that he didn't fully understand the way it was explained) then he might not have really understood the position of neutral and just assumed it was one more kick down. I know I had some trouble finding it during my first lessons, kept pushing the lever too hard and skipping past it.

Has he used neutral much? Surely he would have been told not to use it on the test.

Also does he now know the difference between a switch and a button?
