it gets as shit load more out of a tank than my supermoto thats for sure. Bigger engine, smaller tank. Who the fuck thought that would be a smart idea :p
280 sounds about right for the tank size though. Will have to test it out
Since most of our riding is done together I guess I will run out twice before she does![]()

With my ZZR- The longest straight run I've done was about 220kms from full, and it cost a little under $10 to bring the tank back to full. Not sure exactly how much petrol it used, but I'd have to say it must be under 4 litres to the 100kms. Of course it's going to depend on how you ride it, that was pretty much a straight run. So breaking 400 wouldn't be all that difficult if most of your driving is on relatively open roads.
I'm not going to stray too far over 250 driving to and from work, mind.
with my baby i usually fill it up at around the 200km mark which is usually about 10-11L of fuel needed. and they are an 18L tank so im sure you could work out the numbers on that.
Man i cant believe these numbers
I got 410km no using reserve just last week and i dont drive my zzr like a baby at all.. constant stop starts and full bore to the speed limit im sure aint good for economy..
*thanks his lucky stars*
Positive mate!.. not too sure why i got so many k's compared to everyone else..![]()
I use my ZZR on semi-urban commuting, trips averaging around 25km, and I get around 360 before I hit reserve. That's 360 out of a 16L tank, so extrapolating 420'ish km distance to empty (DTE) on the 17.8 L tank (16 L + 1.8 L reserve). In that space I have several traffic lights, some freeway and lots of urban areas averaging around 80 km/h. I admit I don't absolutely blast off the lights every time but I don't sit around waiting for a written invitation either.
DTE is affected by rider weight, riding conditions, fuel, etc. but generally speaking you should get at least 350 km out of your tank, right to empty. The only time I hit reserve was at 360 km . The ZZR is reputed to be heavier but get slightly better fuel economy than it's brother GPX250.
FYI I use BP Ultimate or Woolworths Vortex/Vortex98 and weigh in at around the 100kg mark. I'd expect you to get better efficiency if you were to use a similar fuel and weigh less than me, or about the same efficiency if you weigh about 80 kg or less and use regular fuel.

Point taken.. i weight just over 80kg.. lost around 5 kilos cutting up for summer..
Guess being lighter helps.. and i tend to duck down alot to try and be as aerodynamic as possible![]()

Hmm filled the ZZR up today. 233.7 kms on the clock since last refil, 7.84 litres to fill and, if anything, I filled it slightly higher than I did last time. That was with a bit of everything, too. Freeway, twisties, the learner ride, and stop-start peak hour traffic. If that's anything to go by I should be able to get 450 comfortably without hitting reserve with my normal riding patterns, and break 500 with it.
And, given it's not fully run in yet, that's probably going to improve somewhat.
Edit: Oh yeah, I use 98 PULP.

^^ nah, it will get worse, because:
1. you'll flog it harder as you learn to ride harder
2. you'll flog it harder because you're not running it in![]()
i made 280 a few times with a heavy wrist but ran out in the tunnel! ahhh, they were the good ol days of manual reserves!

For most of the learner ride the poor ZZR was doing its best to keep up with the 600s, so it was probably harder on the throttle than I'd normally ride (Though when I was a P plater I used to play "catch whatever the hell that car in the horizon is" - thank fuck it never seemed to be a cop car...
Will see how I go, though. But the results do give a fairly good idea of what the bike is capable of if you want it for economy.
Oh yeah, its capable of great economy
I got similar figures for the first few tanks out of my ZZR, too.
Ditto for the 600. First country run i took it on, whilst still running it in (manual had nothing about break in in it, but i kept it to around 10,000rpm or below for most of it), i got about 270km out of just over half a tank (18L).
I get *far* less than that now![]()
Ain't that the truth... those 600's sure are a lot quicker than the 250's. Won't stop me from tryin tho
I used to get 450-500 out of a tank when I was running it in coz i'd be so gentle with it... now it's looking at the lower end of that.
Either way, it's still fantastic economy compared to a cage.

Figured I should put the latest run in. 327.8 to reserve.![]()
wot u gettin for k's on ur RR thro? I'm only gettin 230km then the fuel light came on (which should mean another 50km's)
(226): Forecast for tonight is alcohol, low standards and poor decisions.
220-240 ish and i get down to 1 bar.
The bar will supposedly flash on "reserve", but i don't let it get that low, i just fill up on 1 bar. I think that works out to be about 14L or so to fill it?

I squeeze a little bit more distance out of it by filling it up while its sitting on the centre stand - makes more difference than you would think. Dont do what I did before the LNF Country Ride last weekend - it was cold and in the shade, i filled it to the top on the centrestand, and then put it out in the sun on the sidestand... i pooed myself when i saw the puddle under my bike, until i realised that it was fuel coming out of the overflow![]()
