Insurance
I am still a Learner and if all goes to plan I pick up my 2001 ZZR 250 next Friday.
Who is the best person to insure it with? I probably won't ride it until I've had a few more lessons with the riding school (as I'm using their bike) but I still need to have it insured. How much roughly does insurance cost?

Insurance will vary depending on a number of things: your age, your driving history, the type of vehicle you drive/ride, where you live and who you call.
The best person to insure with is someone that covers you for what you need (i.e cheapest isn't always best).
Have a search of the forum, there are millions of threads discussing insurance already and who to go with.

I have a 2004 ZZR 250, found western QBE where the best for insurance, heaps cheaper than all the other compeditors, even the online one's. Cost will depend on age/driving history etc.

Mmm ok... I was the fourth car in a four car pile up in June last year so I am paying like $1200 a year for my car insurance so I can only imagine how much I'm going to have to pay for my bike....

Heh heh, beaten by padfoot.
Welcome Sarah - it's probably going to be expensive. Different for everyone depending on circumstances, age, vehicle, garaging address, etc, etc, etc.
Best thing you can do is go through that top link on Padfoot's post and get quotes, choose between them.
Get prices for third party and fully comp, once you've done the rounds you may decide 3rd party only makes more sense.

Gotta keep calling around. I Found Swann was the cheapest for one bike, then on the next it was QBE by a long way, now I'm with Shannons.

Shameless promotion of your own thread
I got more links, who wants them?
Typing in "insurance" gives eleventy billion results!
Insurance is a tricky thing... I didn't go with the absolute cheapest quote I found because they didn't have much gear cover ($200, not even enough to cover my boots).
Some insurers wouldn't touch me because of my age (20), some because I ride every day.
I went with my current insurer based on them giving me a fairly good price, good amount of gear cover and I had heard some good things about them from others here.
There are also people who have plenty of bad things to say about them...
However after making two claims with them, when my renewal came in I got some more quotes from cheaper places, got them to match it (plus a little more for gear cover, $4000 worth of cover) and away I went renewing with them.
I insure with QBE and am happy enough.

QBE were the only ones who would insure me
due to my colourful driving record
Cost me approx 10% of the value if my bike

QBE are pretty good. It's who I'm with. What I found is that you'll probably have to bear the cost of expensive insurance for one year and barring speeding tickets and any other incidents, you'll be able to negotiate a better price.

Just rang Charlie at ebike and she could do me the superduke insurance for a year for $416 with $4000 gear coverage and no riding limitations. As apposed to shannons for $1041 a year with $3000 gear coverage and could only ride it weekends.
