Your accident history should only make a difference to your premium if you have destroyed your no claim bonus. What it may do is land you with extra excesses. The only way to find out is to call around and get quotes.
QBE (They no longer use the "Western" at the start) are very popular. Swann is probably next. Personally I have had a bad experience with Swann, but in general they're not too bad. QBE were excellent to make a claim with. The QBE gear/trailer cover is excellent and doesn't cost extra. It's worth calling around and asking for quotes AND find out what your excess will be and how much they'll cover your gear to in an accident. Some will also match the cheapest premium you find.
Do a search and you'll get enough info to make your head explode... Then call them all and get a quote based on your individual circumstances.

I'm with Shannon's but I don't ride more than a few times a week (if that) and I have a few years of riding under my belt.
Shannon's are very good but you need to meet strict criteria to get insured by them.

Yeah - I didn't mention Shannons 'coz they won't insure me (I hear crickets when I tell them how many kms I do! ) and they sure as heck won't insure the starter of this thread... But I haven't heard a bad word about them from anyone who's made a claim, so they do seem to be good.

+1 for insuremyride , whilst i dont own a bike yet an estimated quote came out fairly nicely, they also allow you to choose your excess and amount of gear cover. you will find that most companies dont like to give online quotes for motorcycles and for newbie riders, insuremyride is one of the few exceptions there so if your lazy they're your best bet

+1 for posting up photos of yourself
Sorry.
Best advice is for you to ring every single insurance company you can find and get quotes. Amazingly, you will find that the quotes you get will vary hugely. So its well worth spending some time ringing around.
Cheers and welcome.

Forgive my bluntness, but how old are you? Do you have a no claim bonus (even from a car?)
There are big jumps in premiums and excess depending on age and experience. Some insurers will let you "port" a no claim bonus from cars to your bike policy, others will not.

I did the ring around a couple of months ago & ended up with Shannons. (around a grand a year) - this with 25 years riding (fully insured the whole time), less than 3k kms a year and never having a claim. I still think it's a wrought.
As said before, best advice is to shop around & check what they are offering - the bottom line price isn't always the best one to go with. In most cases, you can also elect to pay a heavier excess, which will help get your premiums down too.

Most people do have it, I don't and i regret it so much, I'm waiting for my policy to renew to get it. If you have an off, you might have to pay just as much on gear replacement than fixing your bike, it's a totally worth doing expense.
