Journey: Perth - Busselton - Perth - Advice Wanted

I might have to head down to Busselton for work for a day and was wondering if anyone is experienced in doing the trip down via motorcycle and could give route suggestions and terrain advice

Am kinda looking forward to it though not looking forward to passing trucks etc.

If you don't want top pass trucks then just the normal Perth - Mandurah - Bunno - Busselton on the dual roads

Though there aren't that many trucks

don't stress about trucks. you'll love the ride! its a good run either southwest or the coast. i usually go southwest highway till old bunbury road then jump on the coast road.

*nod* Yea, though I'm hoping to cut down KM's as it would be my first long ride and I spose something nice to cut my teeth on. Back up plan is crashing (pardon the pun) at a friends place down there and coming back the next day.

that route is the fastest way that I know of and I travel to Busso in the car all the time for family and friends.

As Stoney said, trucks are rarely an issue there and there are plenty of overtaking lanes so it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Cops are usually there with the hairdryer about halfway when it goes Single-to-Dual carriage way and camp the middle island in the bushes so don't think they don't come out to the middle of nowhere, and then occasionally at the Gull Servo about 15min north of bunno.

    Have Fun

    Load up some Enya then

But seriously, the wind noise for a few hours will be tiring, and could be enough to damage your hearing, so some sort of protection would be well worth it

just keep to speed limit... especially through traffic lights after the freeway (Fremantle rd I think it is) and then on the dual lane hwy after Mandurah..
However, FJ and Uncle Ho (MyFX) are 2 examples of people that dont fit this genre but fit into the forum well as well respected members.

The journey down there is good, less than 3hrs taking it easy and no surprises (except when you find a Highway Patrol car buried in the bushes and the little man in the yellow vest jumps out ... watch for that, between MH and BY).

The trip is quite good and nothing really to worry about. Take a few breaks along the way. I usually stop around Lake Clifton.

Im driving down on Monday to Busselton working there Tuesday 14th.

I visited some friends down there a few times when i was in Australia.
Definitely use earplugs. I didn't use them the first time and my ears were ringing for a few hours after the ride.
Depending on the bike, definitely make a few stops. I did my trips on an R1 so it was good to get some circulation going after a short walk around a parking stop. Even just stopping and sitting still for a few minutes makes you feel surprisingly refreshed.
If it's possible, use tear-offs on your helmet. The bugs can be quite numerous sometimes.

Also depending on the bike, I would advise staying down there for the night.
If it's your first 'long distance' ride you will almost certainly be a bit sore when you arrive.

Something worth doing though, it's a nice ride down there.
