    June, "Noise Testing" month

Well it's June. Time to insert those exhaust baffles back into your cans. The police will be starting their noise testing campaign on motorcycle exhausts this month. $100 fines for those who don't comply. My guess that’s probably most of us!!!
This issue started with the police after those "BLOODY" Harley riders started to make their V twin puss boxes as loud as possible.
We on sport bikes, who outnumber those others, bear the brunt of this operation.
I can see the issue, if you have ever followed a "BLOODY “Harley, you can barely hear yourself think!
I still fume that this has been bought down on us sport bike riders!!!!!

Much easier to pull over sportsbike riders and shove a pineapple up the clacker than try and do the same to a Harley rider....

Personally I think society has bigger issues than loud bikes.

Maybe they could 'fine' people who throw bottles at police cars instead? Just a thought.
Barfridge: Seriously, what the fuck is going on here? There's no place on PSB for comments like that...

Yeap starts tomorrow black Friday, will probably be road blocks along the freeway during peak hours when riders are on their way to work (like the recent blitz on tinted visors, FE, licence checks). It will be interesting to see whether the cops apply the law equally and fairly, be it a HD cruiser, sports, naked, road/trial etc.

    Yellow stickers presumably as well?

    edit:
might have to ride the RGV around for a bit. it went over the pits as is no problem.... or find my baffle ....

According to news story earlier, it was 94db. My honda has a 98db sticker, my RGV has 93-94db.

Are they going to be pulling loud cages over as well? Do the pits actually do noise testing yet (presumably they'd need to, to remove the sticker)? or is it just going to be plod with "an app for that" handing out invoices?

Have the Police actually released a statement about this, or is it just media hype and bullshit.

Fucked if I'm parking my bike up for a month because some media twat overheard a conversation about exhausts.

Well I think they might have problems making a fine stick unless they follow this procedure in the link above.
If at first you don't succeed, dont bother taking up sky diving.

    Nice work.

test at side of freeway isn't an ideal testing environment. unless your bike is more than 10 TIMES noisier than the side of the road (scale is logarithmic), they can fuck off.

    edit:
fuck it, i'm printing that sheet off and sticking it my backpack.

I'm pretty sure the WAPOL don't need noise testers to give you a fine for excessive noise.

Correct, but if you decide to fight the fine then they have to have complied with the procedure otherwise it will be thrown out.

So drilling out my CAT would be a bad idea right now? :p
Our Father, Who art at Phillip Island, Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done
In the backroads as it is on the freeway
Give us this day our high-octane premium fuel
    And forgive us our lanesplitting
As we forgive the four wheel drives, the volvos and the taxis
And lead us not into gravel corners
But deliver us from hand-held radars
For thine is thy leather, thy denim, thy Gore-Tex and thy Kevlar
