    Oh awesome.

I especially like the comment that how after he has spotted all the major safety/emissions "issues" (visor not shatterproof, exhaust non-standard and likely won't pass noise testing, etc) - he decides to let you off because you have a stock fender.

Like... because that is more important than everything else.

    What a fucking pelican.

Seriously, footpegs? there is no ADR regarding specific types, nor is there anything about exhaust hangars.

Actually I believe that would come under the provision (whichever law it is) that requires a vehicle registered for X seats to carry the safety gear/accomodation for X seats.

If you remove the pegs/seat, by the letter of the law you are supposed to re-register the vehicle as a 1 seater.

    Stupid? Yes.
Is the cop a fucking douche-bag for bringing it up when you have a removable/replaecable cowl on the rear? Yes.
Are there more important things he should be spending his time on? Yes.

But as we all suspect, most traffic cops may be douche-bags; this just confirms the fact that the particular one Rock dealt with actually is.

At this rate sir, we won't only be dropping five and saving lives, surely we're statistically close to reanimating the dead.

dimlight, YOU are most likely being filmed and recorded each time plod nails you anyway, but without your kowledge or consent.
It is an important tool to cove their arse in court when a 'you called me a rude name' claim is brought up.
Have personally supplied a few myself , and know of an associate who supplies more than a few to our blue hat brethren.

Have always been interested in the legalities of this being admissable without your prior consent however...

Have you looked at what is fitted to the normal pursuit car? I have never heard of police car video evidence been used in WA.

I actually know more than one policeman, and as far as i'm aware they are still waiting for the automatic plate recognition to become widespread.

Sadly I predicted this when the 'drop 5' thing first came in. Yay me. In other news, studies have shown that 70% of fatalities in train crashes occur in the last carriage of the train. Based on this scientific evidence, a new policy is being drafted to remove the last carriage from every train.

(As an amusing aside - assume the average Australian spends 30 minutes a day in the car, and that 'dropping 5' will increase this time by 10%. That's 3 minutes times 20 million = 114 extra person-years spent on the roads every day. So 'dropping 5' will have the collective effect of at least one extra person being stuck in traffic while they die of old age every single day. How many lives is it saving again?)

That's actually not a bad plan at all. In fact I can see a market for a "drivers' legal quick-reference" covering road laws, ADR, etc. so that when you get dodgy cops you can actually call them on it. Of course then you'll get done for the old "window tint too dark" - you don't even have to have tinted windows to be stickered with that one, and you can't fight it in court, once you have a licky you have to just put it over the pits. What's the equivalent on a bike?

There were 1,464 people killed on the roads in Australia in 2008. There were 52,066 people requiring 232,290 hospitalisation due to road accidents 06-07. Source

Those figures won't be particularly meaningful to you when you're on your phone, replaying what's just been said to you and trying to find any way possible to make the words not mean what you desperately don't want them to mean. Right about that time, one is the number that'll be the most meaningful to you.

But no, you've got things to do and places to be and whatever menial, trivial crap you think is so important should take complete priority over reducing the number of times the above scenario plays out. Statistics be damned. You're different. Fucking nanny's date.

Are TEG cops real cops or like the Railway cops, this is a ligit question.
If at first you don't succeed, dont bother taking up sky diving.

I'm curious as to how Rocks visor or pillion pegs affect these statistics.
