[QUOTE=Buffle;1984444]There were 1,464 people killed on the roads in Australia in 2008. There were 52,066 people requiring 232,290 hospitalisation due to road accidents 06-07. Source

ok im confused . 1464 people died , i get that bit . 52,066 were then hospitalised over 5 times each ? or is it 52066 accidents causing 232290 people to be hospitalised ?

oh and the rest of what you wrote didnt make any sense to me ... you a mate of Ryven perhaps ?

Ahhh, typo. It's 52,066 accidents causing 232,290 days hospitalisation.

The rest I can't help you with, or at least if I could there would be no point in doing so. A few people here raised points worth consideration, but I'm going to take a guess and say that you're not looking to do that.

My young bloke is getting his license. He knows how to drive a car as while living in the north west, he was allowed to drive off road, etc.
I thought to myself, "He'd benefit from an advanced driving/hazard avoidance course". Tried to book him in and was told that until he has a license, they won't take the booking. I suggested to them that it was a bit arse backwards that before he was able to learn better driving skills, he had to already be a licensed driver. Apparently, that's how it works. Sensible? I don't think so.

If your visor has an AS sticker on it it is legal they can't do anything.
If your bike is stock and/or accessories are manufacturor approved it's legal, end of story. Your vehicle doesn't have to comply with current standards, only those that were current when it was manufactured. Thus if you restore an FX Holden seat belts and indicator lights are not required. If you do one up (not stock standard) this is no longer the case.
To the best of my knowledge anyway.
It's Bad Luck to be superstitious.
I'd rather have a bad days fishing than a good day at work.

I just got back from California where everyone speeds and talks on their mobiles. As far as I can tell their death toll per 100,000 is within one percent of ours.

    There's this;
ROAD TRAFFIC (VEHICLE STANDARDS) RULES 2002 - REG 50
ROAD TRAFFIC (VEHICLE STANDARDS) RULES 2002 - REG 50

    50 . Foot rests

A motor bike must be fitted with foot rests for the driver and for any passenger for whom a seating position is provided.
But that suggests it's the other way round. Still, not something I'd like to try argue with some meathead traffic scum on the side of the road.

Don't need that to offer a fine officer of the law a ride.

... wonder what that lady-cop is up to these days...
