K7 Gixer, frozen dash, won't start after stopping.

G'day. I've borrowed my brother's bike, and took it for a cruise around some of Brisbane finest. After a while, I noticed the dash had frozen (a speed and gear reading from sometime during the ride) and the tacho had died. I pulled over shortly afterward, and now when I turn the bike on, the tacho won't sweep and the bike won't start. It was running fine until I pulled up.

Sitting on the side of the road poking at wires, but it'd be very handy if anyone had a lead on what to check.

According to this thread... the battery has dropped a cell or the charging system is borked. GL dude.

OK that thread revealed a fried stator in the end - if the same applies to you... you can get your battery charged and ride home.

Offer definitely appreciated dude, but it's for my brother's bike in Brisbane.

We'll get started on diagnosis tomorrow. I'm hoping it was the battery, as he reckons it was struggling to hold charge earlier... But guessing it's the reg/rec as they seem to be a weak point for that model. On the engine block behind the radiator does seem a silly place to put it.

I assume the headlights still come on?
The stock R/R on Gixxers is shit. I just replaced mine with an aftermarket unit much like the one on the R1.
If it does turn out to be the stator, I ordered a spare one when I ordered in my new R/R unit. Still in the box. Happy to sell it.
