    Rob & others,
A mate of mine has bought a brand new KTM 525 and is thinking of getting a set of motard rims. Can you guys recommend anyone/anywhere? What sort of dollars should you be looking for rims, tyres and brake package?

    cheers
    Ryan

Any of the bike dealers can get them.

They are all built over east. It is amazing that they fit straight out of the box. The oversize brake parts etc all come from here.

If any offsets etc need doing after that, that can be done at Midland.

Get the rim width for the rear either 4.25 or 5 would be his choices. You can also go for tubeless or non tubeless setups.

Rick Gills (ask for Kev) at Osbourne Park can do all the ordering etc, and 2 of the guys there race them anyhow, so know what you want. I can recommend them as I bought mine thru there.

Other than that ask on the forum at www.supermotowa.com as there may be some second hand ones for sale. Rhys at Bunbury had a whole KTM bike for sale at one stage, he may have spare wheels to suit.

Cost is between 2 and 3.5k depending on bling factor (radial master cylinder etc) and tyre choice for brand new stuff. Second hand you may find a whole deal for $1500. Check ebay also.

Stay away from mag/cast alloy wheels and non motard specific calipers.

    why is that?
i have seen some mags for sale from an rgv and gsxr to fit my bike . are they heavier than spoked rims?
not suitable for jumps or not permitted for racing with one disc removed?
