    Learners and Cops

So I get pulled over tonight on a bike ride around the river as someone decided to call the cops an complain that a female rider on a pink bike was speeding, causing a ruckus and being a general disturbance :p (I was actually crushing at 50kms an hour but hey whatevs) now the thing was I didn't have my Ls plates up (smack me on the hand) but I was riding with someone who could legally be my shadow. I had my plates with me but they had fallen off during the ride. Anyway my fault. I take full responsibility and the fine. The question i want to ask is, does this fine include demerit points being taken off or will it affect me getting my license? Anyone know? Cheers guys :p

What does it say on the ticket they gave you?
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

I didn't get one. Just took down my details and said I would get a Summonds... And then if I want I can plead guilty and just pay the fine.

i'm in no way informed, but i suspect that it wont hinder getting your RE's. given that it's a class on your existing licence, not a whole new licence.

Wait to see if a summons even comes...possibly won't...

    Then take it from there...

Im sorry but were you riding up and down the same strech of road?

I dont understand why the would pull you over unless you were speeding or riding in an unsafe maner?

any way I too have had my L' Plates come off even as recent as yeasterday,

I have bought a wad of them today so they should last me a few weeks?

Im not sure about the whole summons thing? I think they were pulling your leg and as Rich said it possible wont come at all so dont start hanging yourself just yet.

Pretty sure last time i rememered it was $100 for not displaying plates. This was P plates aswel and both front and rear. Im pretty positive its just a fine but alas like others have said, may have to just wait. Or have a good squizz at the DPI website.

$100, no points for an infringement - doubt you'll be sent to court for it but you never know. Either way wont affect you getting your license.

I was actually told i would be summoned for riding without a licence, like you were riding on my bike without L's up. I just got a licence in two weeks and never got the notice to court. I think it maybe partly to they just couldnt be bothered going through with the summoning or when it came time for formal paperwork i had my licence.
It may take upto 8 months or longer to receive a notice, so you have a few weeks. But from what i understand, they may also put you on a probation where you wont be able to go for your licence for a certain time and a fine.

Nah we were just following the road around the river. We didnt go along any road twice. It was along the river near Rivervale? It was funny because it was only like 5-10 mins of riding along then the river then we got pulled over. They pulled me over because someone actually called them about me. (My exhaust is pretty loud) and my bike colour sticks out too haha its just funny because i actually was just cruising along at 50kms an hour behind another rider but they only complained about me?

To solve yours and RRossi's problems, cable ties. Pure and simple, a cable tie through the top of the L plate and through the hole in the license plate, and when you have your license, a pair of pliers and chop it off. My P plate has been cable tied to the back of my bike for 5 months now and hasn't come off. I know you didn't have them up but the plate being constantly on the bike also stops you forgetting / wanting to be a bit naughty
