Main Roads - Report a Problem / Hazard

A question for the masses I guess, hopefully with the result guiding the mods whether to make any changes

With the recent spate of fatal accidents lately the thoughts lean to how can we make it safer on the roads, reporting hazards is one way

I have reported quite a few hazardous sections of road using the below link but often, by the time I get home from my ride I forget about it and the situation remains for the next guy to encounter

If we have a Sticky link say in The Loop where all rides get posted and commented on, for the Report a Hazard web form, would you be more inclined to report? and therefore raise the possibility of roads getting fixed quicker

I figure if it's in our face, we'd be more inclined to report it

My I just asking you when you reported a hazard how long before the hazard was fixed? Main roads may need to speed up the fix part imo. I have only reported a hazard two times but and one of them was never even fixed.

Completely depends on what the issue is, often we are riding on "Shire" roads and so the report gets sent on to the local shire and then the works guys wait till there is a "few jobs" in a given area and send the truck out so the wheels do turn slowly

I have reported poor signage and it took about 3 months to sort out, but I was consulted on what was proposed which is good I guess, and it was WAY over engineered as most Govt things are which may have added to the cycle-time from report to fix
I have reported holes in the road and they have been fixed within 3 weeks, but I think the number of reports has a bearing on how quickly things get done

Main Roads are only responsible for Main roads and highways. Minor roads and suburbs and stuff like that are the responsibility of local council(s) and all MRWA can do is pass on the message. Also, please refrain from flaming the contact centre as the people working there are pretty nice (at least to me ) and try hard to get these problems sorted out.

Every time I've reported something (like debris on the freeway) they get to it really quickly. The Shires response will depend. Stirling where I am, seem to get to things very quickly. Reported a pot hole on Scarborough Beach Road and it was fixed inside 2 hrs. Other times it's taken days, but they were minor issues.
Remember half the cagers out there are below average drivers...

Your right Dark Shadow the wheels some times do turn slowly.

My 2ed report was about the gravel and the hutton bridge. I don't know why but the on ramp at Hutton St on to the Mitchell freeway is packed with gravel or sand every week. It was so bad about 5weeks a go nothing was done about it but lucky the rains hit and it cleard most of it off. I know BGC makes cement on hector st so many the trucks are droping it off every time they turn the coner. But it needs to be looked at. Also the Hutton bridge is full of holes and bumps that has not been fixed yet at all. May need more ppl reporting it imo.

Just reported the gravel 'fishtail' from a driveway on a corner on Mayo Road near Toodyay Rd.

And got a very fast reply:

    Dear Spock,
Thank you for your email regarding Mayo Rd, Gidgegannup.
Whilst I understand your concern with the situation you have described, Mayo Road is the responsibility of the local Council.
As such, I have referred your query to the City of Swan and requested them to provide you with a response directly. If you would like to make further contact with them regarding this issue, please phone them on 9267 9000 or send an email to swanswan.wa.gov.au
Main Roads are primarily responsible for all highways, freeways and some major roads. Although we do work with Councils to ensure road safety standards are adhered to on all roads by providing advice, appropriate signage, traffic signals and pavement markings we are unable to intervene in maintenance, planning and/or changes to their roads. If you would like to know which roads that Main Roads WA are responsible for this can be found on our website or by following this link Facts - Main Roads Western Australia
Should you require any further assistance, please e-mail enquiries@mainroads.wa.gov.au or call our 24 hour Information Centre on 138 138.

Call Main Roads on 138 138 and tell them about any hazzards. They'll pass the information on to the relevant people.

+1 to all that. I've been very impressed with the response of the various bodies when I've reported things.

I suppose that just because someone reports something and it seems like nothing happens, doesn't mean MRWA/council hasn't been out there and assessed the risk and either given it a low priority or dismissed it all together.
