In the market for an old classic and need advice.

I'm currently searching for an older classic like a seventies Honda CB....
    I am looking at a 73 CB350 Four and a 74 CB360 twin.
There is heaps of information available on the 350 fours but very little on the 360 twins. My understanding is that the 350F is the more sought after out of the two because it was fairly well bullet proof and had much better torque. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Has anyone had experience on both?

check "classic motorcycle mechanics" magazine website . they have written reports on most bikes . my collection of these mags may yield the info but will be a few days till i can look through them all . If you're already questioning these bikes power then , of course , bigger capacity classics can be found .

Not all concerned about the power, I'm just looking for something to cruise the office and back on the weekends. My question is really the differences between the 70's twins and fours and whether the fours are more sought after as I suspect they are.

I rode a friends CB350 four back when it was new. Not much power . My 305 Dream ( twin, single carb) would outrun it.

If you get desperate for a parts bike, I know of a complete 350-4. Around $1200 US. Does not have original pipes but everything else is there.

This is not my understanding. I have been told by historic racers that the twins are faster.

If my memory serves me right, honda didn't produce the 350f for long as it wasn't as powerful as the 350 twin. They went to 400f very quickly.

You are probably right about them being more sought after. Probably because of their scarcity.

The 350/4 was Honda's attempt to compete with the RD350. Where everyone else was building strokers, Honda refused to do so and tried to match the performance with 4-strokes, and failed miserably. It's one of the most pointless bikes ever built. Get a twin.

But is this because you're a Honda enthusiast? 'cause if yr not,m there are plenty better cheap commuters than an old Ronda

Called about the CB360 Geeza, but some lucky fella had it on the back of his ute as I was on the phone. Hope he enjoys it.
Chuck I'm not strictly speaking a Honda enthusiast, I just find them to be a cheap classis and with the reputaion of Hondas reliability being so good combined with availability of most spare parts makes them a good buy for what i want to do. I'm also keeping my eye on a Yamaha xs650 on gumtree.
