    Motorcycle Parking Bays

OK I know this is going to sound stupid but please forgive me I'm new to all of this and I'm blaming my blonde hair haha. I'm heading to rottnest tomorrow and would like to ride my bike to freo but I'm not exactly sure how the parking bays work. If there are parking bays for bikes next to parking bays to cars who need to pay to stay there does that mean I also need to pay? I'm just thinking, where would you put the ticket? It would get stolen! then there are some parking bays next to some for cars that are only 30min bays, does that mean the motorcycle bays are only 30mins aswel?

Laugh at me all you like but its a serious question so could someone please answer it for me

    Read the parking signs..!

other than that, you will find that if the car bay is a 2hr spot, the same will generally apply for a bike bay at the same location however, the bike won't generally have to pay for a ticket for the 2hrs, UNLESS it has it's own parking meter

dont worry about the parking bays - worry about ya bike - theres more rocks in ya head - than in the groyne (rock jetty) - the boat departs from -

if ya thinking of parking it up down at the jettty for a few days (dang - there goes my faith in human nature) -

if ya really wanna leave ya bike somewhere while your at rotto -

LEAVE IT AT HOME - & get a - taxi - bus - hitchhike - walk even - cause if ya leave it down there - By itself - for a few days - thats what you'll have to do to get home !!!!

mmm I'd say don't do it, but then I'm just a little over cautious, I like my bikes

Why not phone them before you leave and ask where/if you can park a motorbike and how much etc.

ok so I'm only going for a couple hours and thats why I wanted to ride. The parking bay has no individual meter so does that mean I can park there as long as I like? and there is no signs saying parking limit because its paid for parking... come on guys I'm not that stupid!

I can't honestly say, you won't be able to park in a car bay, so unless there is somewhere for you to park, then I guess your not riding. Ring them in the morning and ask

you gotta check the signs, if your "inside" a signed section of road then the time limit that applies to cars, also applies to you, you're just not paying the fee
edit: we are talking "Bike Bays" here..!

Example, looking at streetview at these bays in Freo, I'd check the sign beside it to make sure it's not pointing to the side of the bike bays, and if not then I'd say put the cover on your bike like this guy and stay as long as you like

Thanks Dark Shadow! that helped alot... I went for a ride out there today to sus it out but I was confused by all of the signs.. I have a cover and a disc lock so thats why I was thinking about riding and I'm only going to be there a couple hours, I would never leave my bike out over night! but maybe I will leave it this time, ride it to my sisters house to get a lift in with them and check it out for next time. I just have a new obsession with my bike and would rather ride it then drive my car anywhere haha

I often see quite a few bikes out the front of the E shed markets if that is where you are leaving from? Just in front of the cafe at the end facing where the ferry leaves from there seems to be a bike area. I have no idea if they are free but chances are you would not be alone if you left it for a few hours.

More than a few of those carparks around there are Wilson ones, so take your chances. A mate at work is fighting them as he bought enough tickets for his car and trailer for the days he was on Rotto as prescribed by the parking sign and some douche still issues a shit load of tickets.

Maybe time to make an interactive one for all of us to update?

if you are on the Captain Cook ferry ask them if you can park it in their area (on the right in the photo).
    B Shed.jpg

If not then park it on the left in the MC bays. 3 hr parking as far as i can tell?

For info - If you go to Rotto overnight, leave from Rouse Head, there is secure parking (ie fenced and locked over night) costs $10 per day. I have parked my bike there overnight. Ticket is supposed to be displayed on dashboard, I just used a clear plastic name tag sleeve cable tied to the handlebars.

(Only problem with Rouse Head is that you can't catch the Megablast!)

Transport and parking - City of Fremantle

bikes follow the same rules as cars, almost makes sense ....... it could be a trap!!!!
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?
