    Needed a jump start

So the other day I found myself trying to push start my v-twin out on the road with no helmet. At this point I was rather late for work and fervently hoping that no Police were around to see me (is it technically riding if the engine isn't running?!).

Right around the time this thought occured to me, I noticed a car moving slowly down the street towards me. Lo and behold! A Police car.

There wasn't time for more than a "oh fuck" and a giant fake exhausted smile as they pulled up and asked me where my helmet was. They seemed OK with my explanation, so I asked them for a jump start . Though initially hesitant, "we don't have any jumper leads", they eventually agreed!

    Made my day.

Can someone teach me how the f**k you push start a big v-twin on your own?

Twins are a prick to push start! Only ever had to do it once and was totally knackered by the end.
    A BIG hill always helps.

a big hill an a little bit of luck.

generally will need to be in at least second gear or probably third. therefore need to be going fast enough for it to turn the motor over. also pays to jump on it BEFORE you let the clutch. as when it fires can pull away fairly quickly.

ohh also make sure you have room to stop if it starts. a person died last year cause he didnt.

Whenever I tried to jump start it (I've tried a few times...fucking dealer) in 2nd the rear just locked. Barely turned the engine over.

The V4 was bloody easy compared to this.
