    Unhappy News about MAD

Just wondering what happened to all the news about the MAD ride. Last year there was quite alot of TV coverage and this year none. I saw the chopper over head taking video however nothing further. Has anybody seen anything at all and if not what was the chopper doing.

Since it looked more like a country ride it wouldn`t have been newsworthy anyway...thanks WAPOL

GWN had a speel on sport about the Super Motard racing I didn't see the rest of the "news" its petty but they always put caption below whoever they are interviewing, its an exercise in a simplfyed statment of the bleeding obious and it does my head in.

With the amount of multanova tickets, surely they could have spliced together enough pictures to make a motion picture!

Just a bit disappointing. Why was polair filming for. I thought the way the staggered leaving from Darlington defeated the purpose of the ride and thats to build awareness. I thought it was better last year when we blocked all the traffic. Ow well.

Yeah, love riding past watching the ppl in cars that have already been trapped at the intersection for 5 mins waiting for bikes to pass, and they have no idea that they're gonna be there for another ten

    1. It's lost it's identity and was 'just a ride' to the Northam Bike Festival.
    2. It wasn't in the city so didn't get anyone's attention.
    3. It was about motorcyclsts!

I think the starting point had a bit to do with the lack of coverage. If we want to get a bit of attention, next year we should use a central place like langley park as a muster point. We might have to leave an hour or so earlier, but it would garantee a fare amount of attention.

Yehh... the needed to block off the cars...

Had one bitch decide that whilst we were merging at one point, that altho i motioned for her to enter before me and slowed down so id stay with a mate and let her go in front, she decided that she'd slow down aswell and drop further into our group

Then not to mention some other nice cage who decided that all the bikes in the left lane would be awesome to drive between so her/his kids could look at them

    ok, a bit of reality.

People are seriously complaining because we didn't clog up suburban streets and you didn't get the chance to sit sweltering in your gear, watching your temp gauge reach for the red? I'm sorry that the ride was too smooth and easy, next year I'll get the marshalls to randomly pull over for 15 minutes, just to make it more authentic for you.

Orson: people weren't blocked in by bikes for 15 minutes in previous years, it was more like 45 minutes or more.

And starting in Langley Park...how about you come on board and organise that one for next year. The cops will love you and your ideas.

Who said it normally takes about 3 days for the haters to come out and play?

Seriously, MAD is a part of PSB, we put on the event for you, we do what we can with the people and resources we have available to us. The one thing you can do is help us out, with more people the sky is the limit. I'm damn proud of how smoothly things went this year, considering we had about half a dozen people as a core group.

You want more, come join us, and you will get more

Nerve touched, but yeah it's hard to comment on something everyone just turns up to, and everything is taken care of.

    Well said Barfy.

I think MAD this year was quite excellent. Sure it didn't have its own festival, so if you want one in future, maybe pull your finger out and offer to help. Seems like people think that MAD organizes itself, when in actual fact the people who put in all the effort have been planning, dealing, and stressing for months to put it all together. So thanks to you guys, and I hope to give a helping hand next year.

Hardly surprising when you see the man hours that goes into something like this then people start shitting all over it.
No one expects thanks for the work they put in, but they also don't expect people to piss and moan over everything.
If it was that much of a let down maybe next year it should be called off and all the hard (unpaid) work from the volunteers could go into spending time with their families and friends, and engaging in pursuits that won't cause them to feel like it was a unappreciated effort.

Yep nup stick that where the sun doesn't shine if you like sitting in heavy traffic in a central location may I suggest the CBD on a weekday between the hours of 7-9 and 4-7.

With the local media been so lazy between Resist Dingo and the riding WA crew and maybe a few PSBer's if we filmed eddited on that day and sent it into the various news agency's it would get a run.

Actually here is an idea for the next one MAD news service do the ride eddit the video and get it back pronto.

TV Coverage isnt the be all and end all, the riders and volunteers that rock up and donate make it what it is.

It was my first MAD ride and I was very impressed with the organisation, the setup at the meet point and the volunteers! Volunteers are the most important part, those guys give up having their fun time to ensure everyone else enjoys it. It was very well thought out and I can't say enough good things about it. Pats on the back to all involved!
