    Perth Triumph Dealers - Sharks

2006 Speed Triple. $16500 purchased New

    1. Front axle bolts missing after service and break replacement.
    2. Battery acid powder on battery not cleaned off.
    3. Mud and sand in diagnostic plug charged extra hour for manually mapping engine.
    4. Timing chain falls of after $900 major service at 35000kms and after informing dealer of engine rattles.
Timing chain is replaced at "discount rate" of 3k. For reasons unknown valves where removed and not marked prior to removal and required re-lapping and re-seating.
    5. Bike still running rough after getting it back so decide to replace plugs. Incorrect plugs supplied by dealer.
    6. Bike is returned to dealer still running rough after plug replacement. Dealer charges to swap plugs for correct ones.
    7. Dealer swapped Oggie knobs from back motor mounts to front motor mount at timing chain replacement stage for reasons unknown. Long oggy knob bolt was not swapped for shorter bolt so when tightened squashed sensor and unbalanced throttle body. Customer is charged $250 to move sensor and realign throttle body.
    8. Bike still running rough, having run out of money customer removes tank, air box and notices air fuel mixture needle is missing from left throttle body which should have been adjusted at previous visit and not left so loose that it would fall out of the throttle body after taking bike home.

Called dealer, dealer denies responsibility but clearly obvious the reason the bike was running roughly.

Bike in at home in garage still with tank off and missing needle valve.

Any advice would be appreciated (besides "don't go back to the dealers" lol)

All dealers in Australia are sharks.. You just have to price a bike overseas an do the maths with tax and freight etc to work that out..

read up consumer protection wa, speak to the dealer principle and out line your problems that you have with the levels of service. give them an opportunity although
    (lifted from ca web page..
"When there is a major failure with a service, you can choose to:

cancel the service contract and get a refund; or
keep the contract and get compensation for the difference in the service delivered and what they paid for.
You get to choose, not the supplier.

    Example:
A consumer has signed a building contract that sets out the specifications for her new house. When the house is completed, the consumer notices a few windows are not in the right place. Because the builder has not met the standard required by the contract, the consumer is entitled to compensation.

    Minor problems with services
For minor problems that can be fixed, you cannot cancel and demand a refund immediately.

You must give the supplier an opportunity to fix the problem. They must do this:

    free of charge; and
within a reasonable time. This depends on the circumstances"

    know your rights.

    Been there, done that. Lost.

What can you prove, how much time and effort are you prepared to go to?

Come up with a proposition of what you feel is fair. Put it to the dealer, work this angle as much as you can. If this fails, go through Consumer Protection - they'll help you with this. But at the end of the day, if you can't reach a resolution, you both go to court and if they lie convincingly you might be disappointed.

Been through mediation prior to court was difficult to prove as they lied through their teeth. Consumer protection had no power and didn't do anything. Triumph Aust. Can't force them to do anything unless the bike is under warranty. ...next step sell the bike

Agreed, but it might have something to do with our tax system why we pay more than the rest of the world.

Do your own repairs and servicing and even if you do a half arsed job like the dealers at least you haven't paid top dollar for it.

Are you allowed to name and shame the Trumpy dealer?

How many Trumpy dealers in Perth? Have you been taking photos, keeping records and talking to the business owner?

On another note, I am so happy there are so many altruistic people on this site who work for no profit unlike those stinking business people who force us to use their services.

One of the main reasons stuff in general can be more expensive in Perth is the size of the market, i.e. a gnat on an elephants arse, in spite of a lot of people believing we are the centre of the known universe and are like Gods walking the earth who should be worshipped because we can dig cool holes.

Just keep in mind naming a shop over issues can result in legal cases. IF everything you've said is 100% true and you have evidence then all fine and well.

Otherwise you may be in for a defamation suit and generally PSB also gets notice served as well (which we always fight regardless).

I mainly deal with JCS never had an issue with them also on occasion have had dealings with Lloyd Chapman and Bunbury never been an issue with them either

jack3d WTF a post like this is enough to put you off a bike at that rate if you read all the posts from all the people that have had issues with dealers resellers and manufactures you'll end up with fuck all.

You don't have to take it to the Trumpy dealer to get serviced. As long as the person doing it is a licensed mechanic, the warranty is not void. I have always got better service at an independent workshop, rather than a dealer.

I noticed in your title you wrote "dealers" plural so I unless you took it to both Triumph dealerships how about you tell us which one you didn't take it to.

I've got ten bucks that says I know which place the OP is having issues with, but I wouldn't recommend naming them openly either.

They'll simply never see a cent of my business again, ever, or any friends business that I can steer elsewhere.
