a couple of things:
did you tell the dealer to replace the chain at the 35000 km service ?
did you give the dealer the go ahead when he quoted 3k, was it in writing?

after you got it back running rough, did you return straight away? who decided to replace the plugs, did you tell them to do it, or was it their recommendation?

I was quoted $200 for a service over the phone.

The $500 I was asked to pay when I arrived was a slightly interesting figured.

Fuck 'em. They've screwed the OP around enough to get fair trading involved, for me it was just a lesson.

what other bike shops specialise in trumpies? I have a daytona and dont know many other places that do.

I'll bet anything that he's not talking about JC's. They have always ben friendly and professional with me and Bill is a top bloke always willing to listen.

The other mob however, let's just say I'm not a fan. If you are having a decent about of trouble ask them for the number of the importer and directly and speak to them. I had a number for their warranty department from a while back I'll see if I can find it tonight. I had a few issues with the warranty not being honoured on my street triple, the importer made some calls for me and phoned back with "Take it to JC's". five minutes later Bill had phoned me and said they could look at it that afternoon.

i think you gave them too many chances. the way i figure it, i am not interested in paying someone to practice and learn how to be a bike mechanic on my bike. cut losses and find someone competent.

the errors you have listed scream incompetence- first error front axle bolts missing is a red card, they should have never touched the bike again. if you cut your losses then you would be in front now.

I have been to both and been less than impressed on occasion. On other occasions they have both been outstanding.

Meh, I have a business and if you talk to my regulars I'm fucking brilliant, but if you ask around enough there will be dissatisfied people as well - can't please everyone, cos some people will never be satisfied, and trying to please this sort will do your head in.
