I have somehow managed to lose my damn bike keys at work, and after driving 45km home (borrows workmates car) I cant find the spare key for it either.

Does anyone know if its possible to pick a disc lock (a locksmith that is, I realise I dont stand a chance in hell).

Unfortunately for me its not just an elcheapo lock, its actually a oxford omega.

    Solid drop forged hardened steel
    13.5mm (0.53") hardened locking pin
Double locking pin to prevent prying attacks
    Hi-tech, floating plate, key-way Drill and Pick-proof,
similar to ABUS plus cyclinder Freon resistant
    3 keys included
Available in Chrome - Yellow or Neon Orange

    Ignition reminder insert [/b]
What are my chances a locksmith will be able to open it?

Your chances are quite high. For all the marketing mumbo jumbo most disklocks aren't too technical, just look at how simple the key is (well...whenever you find it), that's always gives you an indication.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

the best place to drop them, right near your bike for any prospective tealeaf to find

i cant knock you too much but, i've left the key in the ignition before but my bike always got a cover on, so you coldn't see the key was there.

    lucky find

I keep the immobiliser and second disck lock key on my other set of keys I carry around just incase something like this ever happened, so thankfully even if some thieving bastard did find them he would still have at least 2 things to get through.

Bout to drop an email off to oxford to see if I can order a spare key. Dont want to have to go through all of that again.

Spoke to a locksmith last night and he said there was a small chance they may be able to get it off but it doesnt sound good (the cylinder key type ones are easy apparently but this isnt one of em). And it was going to cost $88 to have em come look at it this morning (at least their policy was no open - no charge).

I went to the Royal Show a few years back and left my ignition key in the barrel for the helmet lock for about 6 hours

At least I had the disc lock on and had the key for that.

My old flat-mate lost the ignition key to his KR1-S and one day while we were outside launching mandarins with tennis rackets (don't ask), we found it on the small retaining wall beside the front door . This was about 2 weeks later

though it might look a bit suspect, you could always grind the lock off with an angle grinder. had to do this for a stupid ass mate in orbost on the way to phillip island. as he miplaced his disc lock key at the hotel.
