In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

i ask the people that always get a cheaper price... do you do that at all shops or just bike shops? ie do you walk into woolies and buy some milk and get to the counter and say, whats the best price? then walk out to coles and do the same thing?
tba.....
As a matter of fact, Jono... I have been known to get grocery items cheaper too.i ask the people that always get a cheaper price... do you do that at all shops or just bike shops? ie do you walk into woolies and buy some milk and get to the counter and say, whats the best price? then walk out to coles and do the same thing?

But since I don't usually get quoted $500 for milk - I don't find the urge to get a better deal quite as strong.![]()

Nope because I look in the brochures first to see who has milk on specialie do you walk into woolies and buy some milk and get to the counter and say, whats the best price? then walk out to coles and do the same thing?

But I do try and find the best price for items for my bike and car.
I don't always go the cheapest option either, it depends on the customer service I am given !

Why should you pay more than you have to?

I mean, some of the prices listed here make for a significant saving if you shop around.

If I was buying $500 worth of milk, I'd be asking for a discount

yep thats where i got mine done...$450... very happy with McCullochs.
I think as a "walk in off the street deal" that is pretty good. Trying to get the best deal for every item you buy from umpteen different stores is not always the best way to get cheap gear.
*** EDIT: Removed prices as am waiting for a response from forum mods on price postings. ***
I front and rear Pilot Powers fitted to my R1 for a bit less than that and got a front Pilot Power fitted to the gf's ZX6 at the start of the year and pretty cheap as well. I have no idea what they go for currently but have seen nothing posted here that is as cheap as I paid..
One difference is that I don't shop around much for prices and always deal with one of 2 shops (Usually depending on which one has stock when I walk in to buy it). If you find a shop and stick with it instead of always shopping around at different stores for the best price then you will probably come out way in front in the long run.
I have bought numerous items cheaper than some of the group buys that get posted simply through being a regular customer, getting to know people behind the counter and also having them know that when I am looking to buy something - I will go back to them without first shopping around for the best price.
