    Police Radar

Just wondering about the health risk of radar to motorcyclists.
Before you sumarily dismiss this, think about it.
Let's say we pass 5 stationary facilities on the way to...work or wherever.....again, going home. On and on during the week, months, years...totaly unsolicited, unaccounted rad doses.
Who controls the dosage of emissions that we may recieve?
Aircraft weather radar must never be used on the ground (except lined up with the intended runway for takeoff, and obviously clear of personel), Medical scans are documented, and dosage recorded for monitoring limit dosage over time.
We, however, dont know nor have any means to determine dosage recieved from these 'speed-trap' sites.
As motorcyclists, we are pretty much unshielded, unlike an motor vehicle occupant.
Since everyone's getting PC over the slightest indescression now, shouldnt we wonder?

    Totally dude.
To be safe, you better stay home.
    With your curtains drawn.
    And your microwave unplugged.

Edit: How much did they get you for then?

...it was this ol' chestnut that got me thinkin'

''Two British traffic patrol officers from North Berwick were involved in an unusual incident while checking for speeding motorists on the A1 Great North Road. One of the officers used a hand held radar device to check the speed of a vehicle approaching over the crest of a hill, and was surprised when the speed was recorded at over 300 mph. Their radar suddenly stopped working and the officers were not able to reset it.
Just then a deafening roar over the tree tops revealed that the radar had in fact latched on to a NATO Tornado fighter jet which was engaged in low flying exercise over the Border district, approaching from the North Sea.
Back at police headquarters the chief constable fired off a stiff letter of complaint to the RAF Liaison Office. By return came the reply in true laconic RAF style:

"Thank you for your message, which now allows us to complete the file on this incident. You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Tornado had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked onto, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it. Furthermore, an air-to-ground missile aboard the fully-armed aircraft had also automatically locked onto your equipment. Fortunately the pilot flying the Tornado recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile systems alert status, and was able to override the automated defence system before the missile was launched and your hostile radar installation was destroyed. Good Day"

Rags - you do know that stationary devices no longer use radar don't you? The Multanovas which used radar have been replaced by Poliscans which use Laser instead. Handhelds all use laser as well. I'm pretty sure the only radar in use by the police are the vehicle mounted type.

Kinda correct.. The car mounted ones are indeed radar units made by Kustom Signals Inc. However these units can also be used by officers as hand held devices. The reason they use radar in vehicles as opposed to laser is because laser units are stationary use devices only. They cannot be used in a moving vehicle.

As to the radar health isses these emit really small amounts of energy. We are talking milliwatts. You get far more doses while sat in front of your pc screen or tv... But the foil hat does help to save u losing any more brain cells, some folk on here are beyond saving in that respect though

it be more worried about the highly trained officers firing the lazer at your head, yeah i bet it is eye safe and low emmitting blah blah blah, all parts made in china.
or the new multinovas that scan multiple lanes firing lasers in mutliple directions, but im sure they are eyesafe too. i bet there is something somewhere that will state not to stare directy into the pointy end or deliberately fire it into someones face....

True, true! We know from TV and Film that sharks with Lazer-beams on their fricken heads are extremely dangerous!
Plus, it must be unconstitutional...you know...the vibe....presumed guilty, proven innocent...it's Mabo, man!

UK Motorbike Traffic cops with Suzuki Hayabusa - YouTube

    Interesting video from UK.

Go to 05:17 for the best part of the entire vid. I heard some crazy village names growing up over there but this one is a winner! Enjoy

The biggest health risk from police radar would be the insertion of the pineapple and possibly the deflation of a bank account.

Claimed 5 lives and 50 injured LAST YEAR! That would be genocide? PC Dennis' m/c doesn't seem to have warning light or sirens. So, what is the difference between PC Dennis hooning and the "mad, crazies on bikes"?

Na! I haven't a bloody clue either. BUT! He has been trained in high speed pursuit...... presumably.

GOSH! And if he was in WA he would have probably done as many laps around Barbs as Rob Johnson.

    PC Dennis killed them!

....that's the point....it was like...''PC DENNIS HAS 5 KILLS'' . Just like in Battle of Britain with Laurence Olivier and Kenneth More.
